By giving students access to Xbox controllers connected to high-powered PCs loaded with industry-relevant software, they are now able to explore what goes on behind the scenes of game development.\r\n\r\nStudents are learning not only how to play games, but how to understand the inspiration behind them, the coding mechanics that drive gameplay, and the artistic and musical components that shape the overall user experience. Using a familiar and universally accepted input device like an Xbox controller makes this process more accessible, especially for new developers, and in many cases replaces the traditional keyboard with a tool students already feel confident using.\r\n\r\nThrough this experience, students are coding, creating and mapping virtual landscapes, and developing a deeper understanding of the complexities involved in designing an engaging and interactive video game. Ultimately, they will be able to design, develop, test, and share their own original games while gaining real-world insight into game mechanics, development workflows, and user experience design.\r\n\r\nYour support has made it possible for students to engage in authentic, hands-on learning that sparks creativity, builds technical skills, and opens the door to future careers in technology, design, and game development.
