My students are enjoying using the stem bins during morning work time, inside recess and fun Friday celebrations. These bins allow students to be creative, explore math and sciences skills as well as working on fine motor skills. Due to the rise in technology use in young children, the majority of my students spend very little time at home playing with blocks, working puzzles and being creative. My students look forward to stem bin times each week! This project also provided me with a teacher pay teacher gift card which allows me to purchase more hands on crafts, thematic units and practice pages use in my classroom. My students were so excited to receive the new rug and books. My student's favorite time of the day is read aloud time. I read to my students two times each day. These read aloud books help my students develop key comprehension skills such as main idea, inference, vocabulary, prediction etc. It also helps my students develop a life long love of reading. My students are especially engaged after lunch when we read a few chapters in our ongoing chapter book. It is nice to have a cozy rug for the students to be able to sit on while listening to stories. We will also use this rug for daily calendar time/math talks and during our letterland phonics time. I now have enough Birthday treats for everyone in my classroom for this year and next!\r\nMy students are so excited to read the books and I cannot wait to read the Cavities vs. Toothpaste book when we learn about Dental Health here very soon! Your kindness has allowed my students to obtain valuable materials that will help with their day to day learning. My students were so excited when the wobble cushions arrived! They were able to each have one to use, which was phenomenal. My students with attention issues or sensory issues have really enjoyed them, as they help them to focus their energy and makes them more comfortable while working. They have really enjoyed using them while working at their desks on their math group work, and even on individual activities. Several students have commented on how the cushions help them, as the regular classroom chairs are extremely hard and uncomfortable to sit in for an extended period of time. As time goes on this year, we will continue to use the cushions daily, and I am confident that I will continue to see the students' focus increase, and distracted behaviors decrease. As a teacher who has been in the classroom for over 20 years, I have gotten used to making do with whatever we had, or making things myself to help my students. Funding just isn't there for the \"non-essentials\". Your donation and thoughtfulness has made it that much easier for me to do my job, and to give my students the best possible learning environment. I cannot adequately express my appreciation to you for the impact you have made in my classroom.
