We have spent the first quarter of our school year diving deep into our beginning of the year data for Math and Reading to determine what we do well and where we need to grow as learners.\r\n Students created their own goals after having a one on one data talk with me regarding their beginning of the year scores on mClass and iReady. Students were very interested to discuss what they noticed. We celebrated what they did well & discussed areas where they could grow. Independently, students decided on where their focus needed to be and then created their own goal. For example, one student decided that he needed to increase his oral reading fluency by 20 words per minute. Another student decided that she needed to increase her oral reading fluency to 98% from 89%. Other students created goals for Geometry, Math Fact Fluency, and Nonsense Word fluency.\r\n We began the \"Design\" part of our project with the help of some amazing parents, by painting a background on our canvas. Now we are busy trying to find just the right pictures to add to our pieces of artwork that connect to our goals. \r\n As we complete our designs, we will display them in the hallway for a daily reminder of what we are working towards. We are super excited to work throughout the year on our \"Define, Design, and Do\" Donorschoose project.\r\n Thank you so much for your continued support.","fullyFundedDate":1749421451637,"projectUrl":"project/define-design-do/9400615/","projectTitle":"Define, Design, Do","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Patton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2988263_orig.jpg?crop=800,800,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749231200862","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stephanie-patton"},{"teacherId":4273602,"projectId":5034868,"letterContent":"During the year I taught virtually, these materials were so helpful. Using the folders and sheet protectors, I created helpful reference sheets that mimicked the posters and anchor charts students could typically see inside of a physical classroom. The marker boards made our learning feel much more like a classroom than a virtual classroom over Google Meets. I would make my screen where I could see all students and they would write their answers in response to questions (like spelling words, answering math problems).
