Our Wellness Wednesdays have been a hit with our students and this new equipment has been an exciting addition to the rotation of activities they are able to chose from.\r\nWhen my first class walked in and saw all of the oversized games set up, their faces lit up and the excited whispers started. They were excited to learn about some new games as well as play some familiar ones, giant sized though! It was honestly surprising to me the amount of kids who were not familiar with some of the games that were introduced on our Wellness Wednesdays. It was awesome to see how quickly they were able to pick up the rules of games such as Uno and Connect Four and then figure out some strategies for success. \r\nWe will continue to use our new equipment on our Wellness Wednesdays, giving everyone in the school the opportunity to try it out. Some of the equipment will also be used in my PE classes when we are completing stations.\r\nThank you again for supporting my classroom and my students.","fullyFundedDate":1731636752140,"projectUrl":"project/wellness-wednesdays/8578579/","projectTitle":"Wellness Wednesdays!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp394709_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1507551058243","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/briyoung"},{"teacherId":3075328,"projectId":8868313,"letterContent":"A big THANK YOU for a very fun lesson!\r\nWhen in Rome, was a lesson designed to give students an appreciation of art techniques from Ancient Roman Civilization. It was also a cross-curricular lesson as they studied Ancient Rome for Social Studies. This lesson was a hit! When they saw the colorful tesserae (little glass tiles), they got very excited. \r\n\r\nI thought it would be fun to share some of the comments students wrote on their reflection sheet after completing the assignment:\r\n•\tIt was fun pushing the tesserae into the model magic.\r\n•\tIt's so fun, I would like to do it again.\r\n•\tIt was like a making a puzzle.\r\n•\tIt was cool!\r\n•\tI like the part where we put the tiles in the box like our design.\r\n•\tCan I make another one!\r\n\r\nHere are some of the statements from their reflection sheets about facts they learned during the lesson:\r\n•\tI learned mosaics were old.\r\n•\tPeople walked on the mosaics.\r\n•\tYou can make mosaics. That's a job!\r\n•\tMosaics were of mythology sometimes. \r\n•\tMosaics are made of tesserae. \r\n\r\nAlso, I have included some photos that show students learning about Roman Mosaics, preplanning their mosaic on paper and creating their mosaic with the tesserae (little glass tiles).
