The swing stand has allowed my students to utilize their cocoon swing. It has improved focus and emotional regulation: The calming, rhythmic motion of a sensory swing helps regulate sensory input, which reduced classroom disruption and make students more ready to learn and participate. Also, it provides a safe space to calm down and release pent-up emotions. \r\n\r\nThe books not only help to replenish our library, but give the students an opportunity to take a book home each week to engage with family. I have shared these titles with the students. The older ones fought over who would be the first to start reading them. I love to see their excitement for reading. \r\nThe impact this year for us is this is my only source of funding for getting new titles into the collection. I am so thankful that Donor's Choose offers this opportunity. You can imagine the thrill of a new book if you love to read as much as we do. The smell of new books is like the new car smell. It gives us all a tingle.\r\nMy readers are very aware of the next book in a series or the next book the author comes out with in the new year. Sometimes they tell me that so and so has a new book coming out in case I missed it. I love when they keep me informed. \r\nMost of these titles were for my older students but I have some for the younger grades too. My 3-5 students are allowed to come to the library anytime during the day that is convenient for the teacher.
