The photo background was a huge hit for our first day of school pictures — it made the day feel extra special!\r\nThey were beyond excited! Reading in a Pre-K classroom doesn't look like formal reading instruction with phonics drills or independent reading, as you'd find in older grades. Instead, it focuses on building early literacy skills in developmentally appropriate, engaging ways. We have story time where we read and ask open ended questions. We focus on listening comprehension, vocabulary, print awareness, and enjoyment of books. We put books and clipboards in centers for independent or small groups. Reading in Pre-K is about immersing children in a language-rich environment where they develop a love for books and a strong foundation for reading. It's playful, interactive, and rooted in storytelling, conversation, and exploration. Reading provides an opportunity for bonding time with parents, fostering a strong connection between them.","fullyFundedDate":1746487007649,"projectUrl":"project/im-transitioning-to-kindergarten/9301662/","projectTitle":"I'm Transitioning to Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. White","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10009751_orig.jpg?crop=225,225,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746037275816","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10009751"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2776","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":301,"numTeachers":21,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":48,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":29,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":58.9,"schoolId":2776,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Frazier Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Frazier Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/guilford-county-schools/frazier-elementary-school/2776"}
