We received our materials in January and have had fun trying them out. The Bee Bots, Lego kits and magnatiles have been a wonderful addition to our space.\r\n\r\nThe Bee Bots have been especially wonderful to work with as they are so simple to program and keep charged. The Bees do not require any outside programs or support, which makes them so easy for students to use, especially since classes only book into the Media Center on occasion. With the Bee Bots, I don't have to spend much time explaining how to code them or wait for another device to sync up. \r\n\r\nThe students have been enjoying various challenges that the teachers and I have put forth for them to solve, working with all these supplies. The students are learning more cooperative skills and that soft skill is really necessary as they transition to college and the working world. The students were so excited to see the variety of snacks that were waiting for them at the back of the classroom. Similarly, other staff members were excited when I shared these donations so that students in other classrooms were also able to benefit from this awesome gift. \r\n\r\nHere at TW Andrews, we serve a student population from low socio-economic backgrounds, and they are always on the lookout for a teacher that has some snacks. It means the world to them when they find that a fresh supply of snacks is waiting for them in the classroom. These snacks help provide support that students need to feel cared for at school, and they provide the energy students need to make it through their long schedule. We are on a block schedule here and that means students take four 90-minute classes a day. Having access to your donations helped students stay focused on their assignments, and these snacks allowed me to build a nurturing classroom environment. This project was created to help them with in this initiative. The students were overjoyed to receive their new journals and pens!
