Many children visit the nurse's office each day feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or overstimulated. Without a full-time counselor in our school, my office often becomes their safe space to reset and regain emotional balance.\r\n\r\nThe addition of the sensory water bubble tube has truly transformed this space. Its gentle lights and rhythmic bubbles create a calm, peaceful environment that immediately captures students' attention and helps them regulate their emotions. I've watched students who entered in tears or visibly upset slowly relax as they focus on the soothing movement of the bubbles. Within minutes, their breathing slows, their shoulders drop, and they are able to talk about what's bothering them—or simply enjoy a quiet moment before returning to class ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThis calming tool has become a cornerstone of emotional support in our school. It helps reduce stress, supports mental well-being, and gives students the opportunity to build coping skills that extend beyond the nurse's office. Because of your kindness, students now have a safe, comforting place to reset so they can be successful both emotionally and academically.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our mission and helping us create a peaceful, supportive environment for every student who walks through our door. Your generosity is making a real and lasting difference.","fullyFundedDate":1756319550945,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-peaceful-and-relaxing-atmosph/9624386/","projectTitle":"Creating a Peaceful and Relaxing Atmosphere","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Solley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10189623"},{"teacherId":9354363,"projectId":8926360,"letterContent":"It has been incredible to use these Keva Planks with students from Kindergarten to 5th grade at our school. At first we had to take the time to model and practice simple building principals. They were excited but they were just stacking the planks. These students had not had this type of hands on learning before. Once, they had a chance to build confidence in their abilities, they started to choose more challenging and complex projects to build. Their faces lit up with pride at their structures. They were able to cheer each other on and celebrate their classmates successful builds. They were able to articulate what they built and how they built it. We were also able to incorporate reflective discussions about what we did well and what we would do differently next time. \r\nNow we are working directly with teachers looking at lesson plans provided by Keva with our grade level curriculum to find ways to use them in the content areas. We have completed two rounds of building projects across grade levels and just in these projects we have seen exciting gains in their understanding and abilities. \r\n\r\nOur school is thankful for the contribution from all the donors who made this a reality for our students. Each week top readers from each class get first pick on using the tents during library time. The students have more motivation to return their library books and checkout more books more frequently each week so that they can get to be a \"Reader of the Week\" and sit in the tents with their books. Teachers are scheduling more time for their class to come to the library and use the tents as well. It has helped to make reading a more magical experience. Being able to provide opportunities that increase children's love of reading and to protect that time so that they can enjoy reading to themselves as well as to their classmates is the most important thing I can do as a school librarian and your donation made that a reality for our entire school.
