The students were overjoyed when they first saw the instruments, and their excitement was contagious. For many of them, this will be their very first time learning to play a personal instrument, and they can't wait to begin. When I showed the students the recorders, the room filled with smiles, curiosity, and questions about what songs they might soon be able to play. It was a special moment to see how eager they were to start this new musical journey.\r\n\r\nIn the coming weeks, we will begin using the recorders to learn proper playing techniques, simple songs, and eventually, to play together as an ensemble. One of our upcoming projects will be preparing a short performance that allows students to showcase their progress and teamwork. Having these instruments opens the door to more hands-on music-making experiences, and I know they will help students grow in confidence, creativity, and collaboration. Sometimes its hard for students especially those with disabilities to be motivated to read a nonfiction passages due to complex vocabulary or its length. The books received from this donation provided materials that even my most lowest or most impatient readers to engage more actively in reading. The books are properly short, with easily digestible information such as the sight word nonfiction books. The phonics based nonfiction books allow students who are in the beginning stages of reading to apply their decoding skills and knowledge of new letter sounds more easily. In my observations and student work samples, students are more engaged in choosing a book that meets their interests and reading needs. They want to read the books by themselves or with a little help.\r\n\r\n Moreover, they have been a great help in practicing their ability in finding the main idea of a nonfiction passage and going back for key details. Though some may have some trouble finding the main idea on their own, others are able to find it more quickly due to the stories either being interesting, easy to decode, or short enough to process with their skill levels. We have been practicing using graphic organizers to analyze what we read and are in the beginning stages of learning how to apply that information to create a paragraph(summary). Again, thank you for the materials provided for my classroom, you have made it so much easier for students of all skill levels and needs in my classroom to understand the world they live in better.","fullyFundedDate":1724874625308,"projectUrl":"project/specially-designed-library/8526633/","projectTitle":"Specially Designed Library","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8055107_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752359316667","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8055107"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_1349","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":475,"numTeachers":41,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":60,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":51.7,"schoolId":1349,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brentwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brentwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/cumberland-county-schools/brentwood-elementary-school/1349"}
