Each day that classes come to the art room, the first step is the warm up. Students immediately noticed the brand new dry erase boards, markers and supply containers on the art room tables! The markers work so well and the students are able to erase their warm up easily when we finish drawing!\r\n The warm up drawing gets students ready to start art class, and I tell them they are warming up their \"art brain\". After drawing for 5 minutes, students have the opportunity to share their work with a partner or with the whole class. They love being able to talk about their ideas with their friends!\r\n The dry erase boards have other uses in the art room too! The middle schoolers were able to plan their first project of the year using them. It is often easier for students to practice drawing on a dry erase board instead of paper because they are more forgiving. My students are more concerned about having to erase on a clean sheet of white paper. The dry erase boards help them learn from mistakes and allow them to try multiple times before creating their final image.\r\n It has made such a difference to have these new materials in our art room. From myself and my students, thank you very much for your generosity! These items will last us for multiple years and we are very grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1783808140103,"projectUrl":"project/were-just-warming-up/10362058/","projectTitle":"We're Just Warming Up!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp399863_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1529868254050","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/newhopeart"},{"teacherId":9935297,"projectId":10112935,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our students now have access to a beautiful new bass clarinet that is already making an impact in our band program. When students first learned that the instrument had been fully funded in just one day, they were shocked and excited that so many people believed in them and supported their musical growth. For many of our students, school instruments are the only opportunity they have to participate in band, so this donation truly opens doors that otherwise would not exist.\r\n\r\nThis bass clarinet strengthens the foundation of our ensemble and allows students to perform more advanced repertoire with a fuller, richer sound. Students are already eager to begin learning the instrument, and several have expressed interest in trying bass clarinet for the first time. Beyond the musical benefits, this project has given students a sense of pride and motivation knowing that an entire community came together to invest in their success.\r\n\r\nAs we continue preparing for future performances and growing our band program, this instrument will serve students for many years to come. Your support has not only provided an instrument.. It has created new opportunities, inspired confidence, and reminded our students that their hard work matters. Thank you for making such a lasting difference in our classroom and in the lives of our young musicians.","fullyFundedDate":1778091214386,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-depth-to-our-band/10112935/","projectTitle":"Bringing Depth to Our Band","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Castillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935297"},{"teacherId":9935297,"projectId":9746502,"letterContent":"Thank you for your incredible support of our students at Silk Hope School. When the new trumpet and clarinet arrived, the excitement in the room was immediate. Students were eager to try the instruments, and for some, it was their very first time holding one of their own. Seeing their faces light up as they produced their first sounds was a powerful moment that reminded us how meaningful access to quality instruments truly is.\r\n\r\nWe are already using these instruments every day in rehearsal, and the impact has been immediate. Students who previously shared or went without now have consistent access, allowing them to build skills more quickly and confidently. Our ensemble sound has improved, and students are more engaged because they feel a sense of ownership and pride in their playing. These instruments are helping us strengthen fundamentals like tone, intonation, and teamwork as we prepare for upcoming performances.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these instruments will continue to open doors for our students. They will allow us to include more students in performances, explore more challenging music, and prepare for future opportunities like honor bands and auditions. Most importantly, they ensure that every student, regardless of their circumstances, has access to a meaningful music education. Thank you for making this possible and for investing in our students' growth and success.","fullyFundedDate":1769100946369,"projectUrl":"project/instruments-for-every-young-musician/9746502/","projectTitle":"Instruments for Every Young Musician","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Castillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935297"},{"teacherId":9935297,"projectId":9145660,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, our music room has been filled with even more energy, creativity, and joyful sound. The arrival of the new Lyons xylophones was a moment my students will never forget. Their faces lit up when they saw the instruments, and many immediately began asking, \"Can we play them today?!\" These xylophones have already transformed our lessons by allowing students to explore melody and harmony in ways we simply couldn't before.\r\n\r\nFrom Pre-K to 5th grade, students have been taking turns creating patterns, playing simple songs, and experimenting with ensemble work. One of my more reserved students, usually hesitant to participate, proudly played a pentatonic improvisation for the class, a beautiful reminder of how the right tools can unlock confidence. The xylophones make it possible for more students to actively engage in music-making rather than waiting for a turn, which has created a more inclusive and collaborative learning environment.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these instruments will play a major role in our upcoming units on composition, steady beat, and group performance. Your support has given my students the chance to learn through hands-on exploration, creativity, and teamwork. Thank you for helping us build a classroom where every child can experience the joy of making music.","fullyFundedDate":1749138135421,"projectUrl":"project/striking-the-right-note-xylophones-for/9145660/","projectTitle":"Striking the Right Note: Xylophones for Young Musicians!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Castillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9935297"},{"teacherId":9935297,"projectId":9144251,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our band room feels more energized than ever. The new mouthpieces and Essential Elements method books have already transformed the way my students approach music-making. Instead of struggling with worn-out or shared equipment, each player now has a reliable mouthpiece that allows them to produce a clearer, more confident sound. The moment they opened the boxes, you could see a \"wow\" in their eyes, many couldn't wait to try out their \"new gear\" right away!\r\n\r\nWe put the materials to use immediately during our warm-ups and first full-band rehearsal with the new books. Students flipped eagerly through the pages, pointing out songs they hoped to master and challenging themselves to reach new benchmarks. Having their own tools has given them a sense of pride and belonging.\r\n\r\nWith these resources in hand, our next steps include preparing for our winter performance and beginning small-group sectional work using the structured lessons in the method books. Your support didn't just supply materials, you helped create an environment where students feel prepared, motivated, and excited to grow as musicians.
