Each week that most classes draw or paint, we will use a thousand sheets. This is why we are so grateful for the reams of paper you funded for us.\r\n\r\nI try to use white construction paper for my kindergarteners since they are new to all this, but the eighty pound paper you funded will be used for all other classes. Teaching art to nine hundred students a week requires so much preparation and I usually prep the week before. Not having to worry if we can get through the week with enough paper, is one less thing to worry about.\r\n\r\nThanks for caring about my art students and their education. Giving them the best of me will help them do their best and have an engaged, fun class each week. We always have a black light gallery at our annual art show and the neon oil pastels are so important for all nine hundred students needing to complete a drawing. \r\n\r\nMy kindergarteners started painting this week and having new paint sticks eliminated the water and brushes that are always so time consuming to prep and clean up. They loved the experience and called the paint sticks \"Magic Paint\" because it dries so quickly.\r\n\r\nThe end of the week is our clean up time to wash tables and sweep our floor so the new broom and dust pan came in handy. Students love to clean so having what they need helped get the job done.\r\n\r\nThanks for making this happen for us and for caring about my students and the arts. We had approximately eight hundred students French weaving at the same time and we used a lot of yarn! But, oh, what they were able to create! I had second graders weaving so much, they made rugs, belts, scarves, lollipops and snakes. The older students made large area rugs and large sculpted cats, pigs and dog faces. The creativity never ceased!\r\n\r\nHaving ample supplies of yarn helped keep the momentum going and students kept weaving and weaving. Some are continuing their weaving over the summer in hopes of next year, having an even larger rug to produce. \r\n\r\nThis has been great therapy for many students with behavior issues and calming for many students who needed to relax. Seeing almost instant results and feeling they are accomplishing something gives them an ultimate feeling of success. I am so proud of what they accomplished this year.\r\n\r\nEvery spring, we do this weaving and the kids ask all year if it's coming up soon.
