Their imagination and creativity blows me away. They have such great ideas and I love that they feel they have to freedom in the art room to bring them to life. So many students made a fabulous pie. We painted the canvas and glued on the pie. They went a step further and added things to the canvases such as tiny ants, runaway blueberries or lemon slices. We have displayed these in a glass case downstairs and on a bulletin board in the hallway. Staff and students are always gathering in front of it. This has made quite an impact on our students! Last year, we went the sugar route and although fun, it was a huge invitation for ants. \r\n\r\nThis year, students will use black scratch paper and create a sugar skull in rainbow colors. They will receive skeleton lollipops, light up pens and other fun items. It should be a huge success!\r\n\r\nThanks for giving my diverse population ways to learn about other cultures and their traditions. It opens their eyes and their hearts. Otherwise, with over seven hundred and seventy students, I could never remember whose was whose.\r\nPaper towels are so great for clean up as with little ones, there are a lot of spills. If every student does a drawing each week, a ream of drawing paper is used up. Thanks so very much for keeping us in art supplies and allowing so many opportunities to my students. \r\nThis week alone, we created acorns, scarecrows, Mexican folk art, Native American walking sticks, faux candy apples, clay candy corn, clay chocolate chip cookies and clay brownies.
