This year, our school has adopted 8 play based centers that align with curriculum themes. The themes change every three weeks and require a multitude of hands-on items. Already, students have enjoyed completing a Fall \"I Spy\" game in our sensory bin, made a garden using kinetic sand, punched holes in number cards in our math store, and more. We look forward to continuing to use purchased products to create weather collages, tornadoes in a bottle, and holiday ornaments. Play-based learning facilitates cooperative play and brings creativity and applied learning back into the classroom. Watching student smile as they make classroom connections is powerful and we are so grateful. My children have been really enjoying the lincoln logs in the block center where they are creating a corn maze this month. The lincoln log set has added a new spin for them! In the science center we made fall smelling orange, green and yellow play doh and we have been using the fall cookie cutters to make pumpkins, leaves, and apples. \r\n\r\nThe biggest excitement so far has been over our new paint sticks. I added them to the art center for children to create fall scenes with fall color paint sticks. They love drawing and love how they are instanting dry and can take their paintings home that day!\r\n\r\nWe are looking forward to the fun we will conintue to have in our sensory bin. Right now I have added the maple leaves from this order as the base. Next time I will be using both sets of rocks to create a zoo for the kids and will add our zoo animals too!\r\nThank you all so much for helping to make our academic play centers fun and exciting for the children. They are creating, playing, engaging and learning as well as communicating with one another.","fullyFundedDate":1760548659861,"projectUrl":"project/academic-play-based-centers-for-kinderga/9768424/","projectTitle":"Academic Play Based Centers for Kindergarten","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sole","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10291263_orig.jpg?crop=957,958,x0,y60&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759012233842","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennifer-sole"},{"teacherId":10293611,"projectId":9782870,"letterContent":"I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your generous support through DonorsChoose. Because of your kindness, we now have the play-based supplies we need to inspire creativity, imagination, and joyful learning every day.\r\n\r\nPlay is not just fun—it's foundational. The materials you've helped provide are already making a difference: children are collaborating, problem-solving, and exploring new ideas in ways that are developmentally meaningful and engaging. From building towers to creating stories with puppets, the tools you funded are encouraging curiosity and growth in ways that traditional materials often can't.\r\n\r\nYour donation is more than a gift—it's an investment in the future of our children. I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation towards my Library of Things grant. It has made such a meaningful impact on my students' learning experiences and I truly cannot keep the kits in stock. Most of the kits have a waiting list and those that don't are checked out again as soon as they arrive back on the shelf. \r\n\r\nThanks to your contribution, we were able to put together kits filled with all the essential materials needed for students to explore and develop new skills such as crochet, gardening, and cross-stitch. These hands-on activities have not only sparked creativity and fostered a sense of accomplishment but also provided an invaluable opportunity for students to develop life skills that will serve them for years to come.\r\n\r\nThese materials have created more than just projects—they've opened doors to new possibilities. Some students have discovered a deep passion for these crafts, while others have found a sense of peace and mindfulness in the process, but ALL are immensely proud of what they have created. Most importantly, this pride comes from the fact that they have created these projects on their own. The impact has truly been far-reaching, and none of this would have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your kindness and generosity.
