Our room has benefited so much from our new little market and our tent. Every single day you will find kids together in the tent looking at books reading and smiling, just so happy! They are so excited about having this new space. The market has been so much fun!! They love \"going to the store\" and shopping. Every morning during group we choose centers and every single kid in class wants that specific center to play in now. They shop and swap money for their groceries. It is truly teaching them so much with money and counting. \r\n When I first put the market together I couldn't keep the kids away from it. It's constant, they all want to play with it. Still even after having it for weeks they all want to be in that center and timers have to be set so every kid gets a chance. Its truly a favorite in the classroom! \r\n This donation has been a blessing to us and our kids and I truly can't thank you enough. We are using it on our playground to enhance out outdoor time and building muscle and movement in the small children we teach. The kids love crawling through him and on top of him. This just seems like play to them but it is key to helping them build physical strengths. \r\n I first told the kids that there was a suprise on the playground before we headed outside. They were so excited to see our new toy before we even made it to the playground. When we got outside every single kids was smiling and so happy running stright to the catapiller. We made a line and they spent their entire outdoor time playing with him. They were all so thankful and said Thank you so many times. They were truly so excited to have this new toy.\r\n I plan to continue building and growing our playground so that hopefully by warmer weather we can spend most of our day learning and playing outside in the fresh air. I feel its so important that kids are outside in nature learning and growing in a natural environment instead of being cooped up in a classroom. This catapiller was an amazing blessing and we truly can't thank you enough!","fullyFundedDate":1759778228248,"projectUrl":"project/peekaboo-caterpillar/9778965/","projectTitle":"Peekaboo Caterpillar","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shea","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10243543_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757129659726","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10243543"},{"teacherId":2421534,"projectId":9058394,"letterContent":"What an amazing impact this grant had on my students! I was able to use the materials to create three tiers of activity: one was a review level, the second was a grade practice level, and the third was a creative extention.\r\nBecause the Scholastic Resouce I was able to purhase, Comic Strip Math, included third through fifth grade standards, I was able to reach down to the previous year's standards to give fun extra practice with third grade skills. This included addition and subtraction under 20. \r\nI was also able to give engaging repeated exposure to kids working on grade-level skills. This was primarily fraction and decimal work, but we have just worked in some measurement. If students showed mastery, I was able to give them tasks with algebraic reasoning.\r\nAll kids had the option to create their OWN comics using the comic panel. Those were a lot of fun. They had to create short narratives for their peers to be able to solve the math problems they created.\r\nSo thank you! Little brains, all brains, love novelty and this gave my math class a fun boost.","fullyFundedDate":1737574084123,"projectUrl":"project/reading-and-writing-to-enrich-math/9058394/","projectTitle":"Reading and Writing to Enrich Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tarantino","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2421534_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1472412120034","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sandy-tarantino"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2341","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":366,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":71.2,"schoolId":2341,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Haw Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Haw Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/north-carolina/buncombe-county-school-district/haw-creek-elementary-school/2341"}
