We were thrilled to learn our project was fully funded, and my students were just as excited when I shared the news. While the slab roller is currently backordered, we've been eagerly preparing for its arrival by planning hand-building projects that will make full use of this tool as soon as it's in the classroom. Students are already sketching designs for ceramic tiles, relief sculptures, and vessels that will be easier and more ambitious, once they have access to smooth, even slabs of clay.\r\n\r\nIn the meantime, your support has already made an immediate impact. Our recently donated pottery wheel was missing a splash pan, and thanks to this project, we were able to order that essential part. Now students are learning to throw on the wheel without water and clay splattering everywhere! They've jumped into wheel throwing with enthusiasm, and having a fully functional setup has made a huge difference in their confidence and enjoyment.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only provided us with materials, it has inspired my students to dream bigger with their artwork. We can't wait to put the slab roller to use and share what they create. While we were lucky to have two wheels already, the students knew that adding a third would mean more time creating and less time waiting. For our growing artists, seeing another opportunity to work with clay was very exciting. Your gift has brought a new, productive energy to our art space, and we are so thankful.\r\n\r\nWe have already put the new wheel to work, and all three are now in constant motion. With more students able to practice at once, the creative energy in the room is palpable. This tool is teaching them patience and resilience, and your donation has made that powerful lesson accessible to more students each day.\r\n\r\nNow that we are getting comfortable with the basics, our next step is to move on to more complex forms. Thanks to this additional wheel, students are growing into \"potters\" more quickly. They are eager to apply their skills to creating taller cylinders, which we will eventually shape into functional mugs. This project allows them to not only refine their technique but also to design something they can use every day. The pilates rings, in particular, have become a favorite tool for developing control and building upper body strength in a fun, accessible way.\r\n\r\nHaving a yoga mat for each student has also created a more inclusive and comfortable environment, allowing everyone to fully participate in floor-based activities without discomfort or distraction. The new yoga mat organizer keeps our space clean and functional, teaching students the value of responsibility and care for shared resources.\r\n\r\nBeyond fitness, your donations also supported our students' physical health. The facial tissues and first aid kit have already made a big difference, especially during cold and flu season and the occasional minor injury. These small but crucial items help keep our dancers healthy, safe, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThis project has truly elevated the quality of our dance program, and we are so grateful for your support in helping our students grow stronger. The maker's space is technically now open for staff to use, but it is the 3rd week of school and no teacher has utilized the space just yet. \r\n\r\nI know one of our Spanish teachers has an amazing cultural project where students build pinatas from cardboard and tissue paper and I'm certain the Make and Take closet will be useful in that. I also know a biology teacher has a cool project where students build models of cells using household items and I'm sure the materials in our Maker's Space will even the playing field for students who are not able to access craft supplies at home. And of course, the fruit snacks and snack bars kept the students energized and focused throughout the long rehearsal and performance days — those little boosts of fuel made a big difference in their stamina and mood!\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw all these materials, their faces lit up with excitement. Many of them said it made the whole experience feel more professional and special. They felt cared for, and it showed in their energy and smiles during the concert.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the inspiration from this concert is already carrying into our next project. Students are beginning to create their own choreography based on personal stories, and they're eager to apply what they've learned about performance preparation.
