When the items arrived, the eagerness and excitement of the students blossomed as they watched me unbox new items for hands-on learning. They loved the hands-on sports medicine equipment to bring a new level to the course for the rehabilitation segment of sports med. We immediately put the new resources to work by allowing them to move with the objects and try new techniques. \r\n\r\nThe anatomy equipment allowed for hands-on dissection of cow eyes and modeling clay for building 3D models of more complex anatomy systems. The students love doing hands on activity over paper-pencil activities and your donation made that possible! We participated in the ABSS Holiday Bazaar with a variety of goods, and then put our items on a cart and created a pop-up shop that roamed the school selling gifts to staff members. \r\n\r\nThe ingredients went to make \"Jingle Jars\" which were a big hit! We added all the dry ingredients to a mason jar (lots of math and kitchen skills), then added ribbon and labels. We sold the jars and people gave them as gifts for the holidays. Our beaded pen business is still going. Many people were excited to buy the jars around the holidays and we have enough leftover supplies to make another batch of adorable customized pens.\r\n\r\nIt took me a while to figure out how to use the button maker, but it's on our project list for next semester! I'm also hoping to learn how to make home made dog treats next semester as another enterprise for my students. We were thrilled to learn our project was fully funded, and my students were just as excited when I shared the news. While the slab roller is currently backordered, we've been eagerly preparing for its arrival by planning hand-building projects that will make full use of this tool as soon as it's in the classroom. Students are already sketching designs for ceramic tiles, relief sculptures, and vessels that will be easier and more ambitious, once they have access to smooth, even slabs of clay.\r\n\r\nIn the meantime, your support has already made an immediate impact. Our recently donated pottery wheel was missing a splash pan, and thanks to this project, we were able to order that essential part. Now students are learning to throw on the wheel without water and clay splattering everywhere! They've jumped into wheel throwing with enthusiasm, and having a fully functional setup has made a huge difference in their confidence and enjoyment.\r\n\r\nYour donation has not only provided us with materials, it has inspired my students to dream bigger with their artwork. We can't wait to put the slab roller to use and share what they create.
