Thanks to your support, we now have a set of Plus-Plus blocks that my students have used in multiple STEM building challenges. From free-build sessions where students let their creativity soar, to holiday-themed constructions and Arctic animal builds, these blocks have sparked excitement, collaboration, and critical thinking in every grade.\r\n\r\nThe students are genuinely enthusiastic about exploring STEM concepts through hands-on play. I have observed them planning, problem-solving, and innovating as they build—skills that extend beyond the library into the classroom. Younger students are experimenting with flat pieces, exploring basic shapes and patterns, while older students are tackling more complex 3D structures and learning through trial and error. The energy and engagement these blocks bring is remarkable. \r\n\r\nYour support has not only provided a fun and engaging learning tool but has also encouraged a love of STEM for all of our learners. Thank you for making these experiences possible and for helping our students build confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills in ways that will benefit them for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1763601953609,"projectUrl":"project/building-bright-minds-with-plus-plus-blo/9821160/","projectTitle":"Building Bright Minds with Plus Plus Blocks!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fitzgerald","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9061990"},{"teacherId":9061990,"projectId":9548476,"letterContent":"In our library, the Sphero Indi cars are helping students build early coding skills through hands-on exploration. Instead of just watching technology, students are actively creating with it—testing color tiles, sequencing steps, solving problems, and debugging their paths. This type of interactive learning strengthens critical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance in ways that are developmentally appropriate for young learners.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the Indi cars is how instantly they can see the results of their choices. When they place a tile and watch the car react, they make real-time connections between cause and effect. Students love experimenting, adjusting their designs, and working with classmates to create more complex paths. Even older students in grades 4 and 5 have been eager to jump in, pushing themselves to build longer routes or solve challenges more efficiently.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially connected with this new technology. Some of my quieter students, who may not always speak up during traditional lessons, have shown incredible confidence while working with Indi. They take the lead in guiding their groups and proudly explain why a certain color tile will produce a specific behavior. I've also seen students who usually struggle with focus become fully engaged, staying on task as they test and refine their routes. Watching them light up while learning has been the greatest reminder of why resources like these matter so much.","fullyFundedDate":1763556524432,"projectUrl":"project/screen-free-coding-skills/9548476/","projectTitle":"Screen-Free Coding Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fitzgerald","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9061990"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22653","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":419,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":21,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":68,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":22653,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tamarac Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tamarac Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/sachem-central-school-district/tamarac-elementary-school/22653"}
