Without it, our strings don't vibrate. Without it, our bows are useless. \r\nMy students can now not only use rosin in the classroom and not be worried about running out, but can also now take the rosin home with each violin and not have to share between multiple cases. Most students were very excited to see these new little rosins because it meant that we can play more, practice more and perform for everyone to hear! Most middle schools in our district do not have a marimba, so Thurgood Marshall having a marimba will make us a premier music program within our district.\r\n\r\nThe students were very excited to see a brand new instrument never seen before and are thrilled to try out this large of an instrument. Multiple student led music groups such as concert band, modern band (rock/jazz), and pop groups were able to play it to songs such as Sunflower (Post Malone), Roar (Katy Perry), and many others.\r\n\r\nThey were very excited when they first saw the new drum set, it was quite an upgrade from the massive old school drum set they have been practicing on. Having these materials available has let the kids be kids and create with their friends or just enjoy the library and a maker activity and take something home to be proud of.\r\n\r\nWhile we are a new school, the buzz about \"Making in the Library\" will be a focus of next year's goals for making the library a hub of the school community. This makes it so that all students have violins to take home and extras here at school in case they forget theirs at home.\r\nI had students with mouths open at the pile of new string and some were even high fiving. Safe to say, they were excited to play together all at once instead of splitting up the groups.\r\nSoon, I will be posting a new project for more advanced books and music because this has motivated the students beyond the materials I personally purchased for them.
