Because of you, our students have had hands-on learning experiences that truly transformed the way they engage with science, technology, engineering, and math.\r\n\r\nThe ChompSaw and other STEM kits made an immediate and visible impact. For many students, this was their first opportunity to safely use real tools to design, build, test, and problem-solve. Concepts that once felt abstract suddenly became tangible. Measurements mattered. Precision mattered. Teamwork mattered. Students weren't just learning about engineering—they were becoming engineers.\r\n\r\nWe saw increased confidence across the classroom, especially among students who don't always see themselves as \"STEM kids.\" When working with the ChompSaw and kits, those same students stepped into leadership roles, asked thoughtful questions, and proudly shared their creations with classmates. The excitement was contagious; students eagerly arrived to class asking what we would build next.\r\n\r\nBeyond technical skills, these tools strengthened critical thinking, perseverance, and collaboration. Students learned that mistakes are part of the process and that revising a design is not failure, but growth. These are lessons that extend far beyond our classroom walls.\r\n\r\nYour generosity provided more than equipment—you provided opportunity, inspiration, and belief in our students' potential. Thank you for investing in their curiosity and helping us create a learning environment where students feel empowered to explore, create, and succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1768948610620,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-with-stem-kits/9776477/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning with STEM Kits","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Weston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3530108_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1528905074315","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3530108"},{"teacherId":3530108,"projectId":10024432,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the support provided through the Warmth, Care and Hunger grant and to share the meaningful impact it has had on my sixth grade students.\r\n\r\nThrough this grant, my students received warm blankets and nutritious snacks, and these simple yet powerful resources have made a noticeable difference in their daily school experience. The blankets have provided comfort and warmth, especially during colder days, (It was -13 degrees when we came to school this morning!) helping students feel safe, calm, and cared for while in the classroom. Many students shared how much they appreciated having something warm and comforting that allowed them to better focus on their learning.\r\n\r\nThe snacks have also been incredibly beneficial. For several students, having access to food during the school day helped reduce hunger, improve concentration, and support their overall well-being. When students' basic needs are met, they are more engaged, more confident, and better able to participate academically and socially. They are very excited to dig in to these high quality snacks!\r\n\r\nThe Warmth, Care and Hunger grant did more than provide materials—it sent a powerful message to my students that they are valued and supported. The impact has been evident in improved focus, increased comfort, and a more positive classroom environment.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity and commitment to supporting students and educators. These books have helped students see math as more than numbers on a page—they see it as a tool for solving real-world problems, telling stories, and understanding the world around them.\r\n\r\nReading has become a natural and meaningful part of our math routine. Students are more eager to participate in discussions, ask deeper questions, and make connections between math and everyday situations. For many of my students, especially reluctant readers or those who struggle with math confidence, the books have provided an accessible entry point that builds understanding and reduces anxiety.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the donated books have helped foster a classroom culture where curiosity and learning thrive. Students are excited to explore math through reading, collaborate with peers, and explain their thinking with greater clarity and confidence. The enthusiasm and growth I see daily would not be possible without your generosity.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping make math learning more engaging, inclusive, and impactful. Your contribution has made an incredible impact on both our students and our teaching practices.\r\n\r\nThe puppets have brought a playful and engaging element to our lessons, allowing students to connect with complex geometry concepts in a fun and interactive way. The puppets serve as dynamic teaching tools that help bring abstract ideas to life, fostering a sense of creativity and deeper understanding. Students eagerly look forward to each lesson, excited to see how the puppets will help demonstrate new geometric principles.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the geometric shapes have been invaluable in helping students visualize and manipulate various geometric figures. These hands-on resources have provided them with the opportunity to experiment, explore, and develop their spatial reasoning skills, which are essential in mastering geometry standards.\r\n\r\nThanks to your thoughtful donation, our students are not only learning key mathematical concepts but are also gaining confidence in their ability to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios. The positive impact of your support is evident in the enthusiasm and success we're seeing in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your generosity and commitment to supporting education. Your contribution will have a lasting impact on my students—not just in their academic performance, but in their confidence, engagement, and overall attitude toward learning mathematics.\r\n\r\nIn 6th grade, students are working hard to master essential math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. These are foundational concepts that they will carry with them throughout their academic journey and into everyday life.\r\n\r\nMotivational rewards provide the extra encouragement many of my students need to stay focused and persistent, especially when the work gets challenging. These incentives help me create a positive and engaging classroom environment, where effort is celebrated, growth is recognized, and students feel proud of their progress.\r\n\r\nWith your support, I can reinforce important milestones—like mastering the steps to multiply mixed numbers, adding and subtracting decimals accurately, or confidently dividing multi-digit whole numbers. For many of my students, these skills once seemed out of reach, but now, with consistent effort and encouragement, they are achieving goals they didn't think were possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in my students' success. Your generosity is helping them develop not only stronger math skills but also a deeper belief in their own potential.","fullyFundedDate":1758123316085,"projectUrl":"project/mathematics-rewards-and-motivators/9691876/","projectTitle":"Mathematics Rewards and Motivators","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Weston","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3530108_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1528905074315","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3530108"},{"teacherId":3530108,"projectId":9691948,"letterContent":"On behalf of my sixth grade classroom, I want to sincerely thank you for your generous donation of health and hygiene items. The nets of three dimensional shapes were an exciting hands-on way for students to manipulate and build 3D shapes. The shapes students learned included: rectangular prisms, cubes, pentagonal prisms, hexagonal prisms, triangular pyramids, square pyramids, hexagonal pyramids, pentagonal pyramids, cylinders, and cones. Students were able to use these nets to assist them in naming shapes and drawing their nets.\r\n Next, student learned about surface area. They used their knowledge of the area formulas for rectangles, squares, and triangles to develop expressions like SA=bh*4(1/2bh) for example for the surface area of a square pyramid. This models were priceless in helping students move from three dimensions to two dimensions. Their visual spacial skills improved immensely as well.\r\n The kids really loved using these materials as we studied geometry! They were excited every time we pulled them out. From basic shapes to perimeter, area, and volume formulas, we integrated them into our learning each day. We are preparing for state assessments next week and we will be using these materials again for our review sessions.
