Your support has made a significant impact in creating a welcoming and positive environment for our students. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness and commitment to enhancing our learning space.\r\n\r\nThe decorations serve as visual prompts for students to engage in restorative practices. Posters displaying conflict resolution strategies and positive affirmations are placed around the room, encouraging students to reflect on their behavior and interactions.\r\nWe have created designated areas with comfortable seating and inspiring student artwork where students can gather for discussions and mediation. This setup fosters a sense of community and belonging, allowing students to express their thoughts and feelings freely. Students have taken an active role in maintaining the decorations. They regularly participate in discussions about how to keep the space inviting and meaningful, reinforcing their ownership of the environment. The overall atmosphere in the classroom has transformed, promoting a culture of respect and understanding. The decorations have not only beautified the space but also encouraged students to practice empathy and communication skills.\r\n\r\nWe have collected feedback from students regarding the decorations. Many have expressed that the visuals help them feel more at ease and remind them of the importance of restorative practices, leading to a more supportive classroom dynamic.\r\n\r\nThese updates illustrate the positive impact of the decorations on our restorative practices and the overall classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1724510152336,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-restorative-practice-room-env/8688854/","projectTitle":"Creating a Restorative Practice Room Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. DiCanio","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9638444"},{"teacherId":9769553,"projectId":8807711,"letterContent":"I am a school social worker and the Coordinator for our district's Family Support Center (FSC). The FSC offers a variety of services for any family in our district, including access to mental health and community based services, presentations and professional development on topics such as trauma, grief, suicide prevention, etc; and the FSC also runs our Helping Hand, which is a free resource that provides groceries, hygiene products and clothing for any student and family in need. Food insecurity is a significant issue in our district and many of our parents are underemployed, leading to financial stress. Our Helping hand room serves over 100 families per year and distributes over 2,000 hygiene items per school year! Our hygiene items are all donated by staff, student clubs and teams, community members, and purchased with money from fundraisers. Maintaining the closet is an ongoing challenge. Your donation assisted in stocking the closet with items such as deodorants, bar soap, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, paper towels and toilet paper. Students who do not have regular access to these items are more likely to be absent from school. Your generous donation contributed to our efforts to help students be ready for school and learning.\r\nIn addition, the donation of brochure holders is greatly appreciated, as I constantly have materials and information to share with parents but did not have appropriate ways to display them. Now my materials are organized, visually appealing, and easier to access.
