The sensory tools, manipulatives, puzzles, and books were introduced during small-group instruction, center time, and social-emotional learning activities. These materials were intentionally placed in easily accessible areas so students could independently choose tools that supported their individual needs throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe sensory resources were used to help students regulate their emotions, improve focus, and engage more fully in learning activities. Teachers modeled appropriate use of each tool and guided students in understanding how different materials could help them calm their bodies, express emotions, and participate positively with peers.\r\n\r\nWe also observed meaningful social growth. Students practiced turn-taking, cooperative play, and communication while sharing materials and working together in small groups. The books and sensory activities opened opportunities for conversations about feelings, self-awareness, and coping strategies, strengthening our social-emotional curriculum.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these tools helped create a calmer, more inclusive learning environment where students felt supported, confident, and successful. Students who previously struggled to remain engaged were able to participate more consistently, and many showed pride and independence in selecting tools that worked best for them.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our classrooms now have sustainable resources that will continue to support our special needs students every day. Your donation has helped our students build essential emotional, social, and academic skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for making a lasting difference in their learning experience.","fullyFundedDate":1762117318335,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-emotional-support-tools-for-ou/9455913/","projectTitle":"Sensory & Emotional Support Tools for Our Special Needs Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Benitez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9769618"},{"teacherId":9928325,"projectId":9123734,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our classroom. As a dual-language English and Spanish teacher for 3-year-old students, I've seen firsthand how the resources you helped provide have transformed our learning environment. Your support has allowed my young learners to be more hands-on, curious, and excited about learning each day. With access to technology, they are engaging in music and movement activities in both languages, which not only makes learning fun but also helps them build strong language and listening skills.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting things for my students is the opportunity to interact with visuals and hear stories in both Spanish and English. Many of them are just beginning to speak a second language, and the use of technology helps reinforce vocabulary, comprehension, and pronunciation. I've also been able to incorporate labeled images, dual-language read-alouds, and interactive lessons that support both language development and content knowledge. These tools are especially helpful for visual learners and those who are still building confidence in expressing themselves.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were initially shy have blossomed with the help of these engaging, bilingual materials. For example, one student who only spoke Spanish at the beginning of the year now confidently repeats phrases in English during our group time—thanks to the songs, visuals, and interactive stories we can now use daily.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is making a real difference. My students light up with excitement each day, and I am truly grateful for the joy and growth your donation has brought to our classroom. The new technology you helped provide has become a powerful tool for exploration, creativity, and deeper understanding. Whether it's using interactive apps to reinforce reading and math skills or engaging with digital science simulations, our students are more motivated and confident than ever before. The technology bridges the gap between traditional learning and the modern world they're growing up in, helping them build essential skills for the future.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects for our students has been the ability to collaborate and explore topics in a hands-on way. Tools that allow for interactive storytelling, real-time feedback, and personalized learning paths have turned everyday lessons into immersive experiences. One student in particular, who previously struggled to stay engaged during lessons, has blossomed, using the new interactive digital applications and even helping classmates. It's been inspiring to watch shy students find their voices and curious learners dig deeper into topics that spark their interests.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible.
