Students came to school hungry, disengaged, disconnected, upset, and uninterested in the learning. Their rumbling stomachs distracted their brain from thoughtful participation in my class. When I reached out for support to solve this problem you answered. I saw an immediate change. Students once fed were more engaged, attentive, calm, and willing to learn. Something as small as a snack in between classes can make a huge difference in a child's day. Their outlook to the day was different, they left more determined to learn. But most of all, they were comforted knowing that someone cared for them enough to donate so generously. Thank you is never enough to express our gratitude. Their faces lit up once I told them \"yes\" to their question \"Williams do you have something for me to eat\". I especially recall a moment one of my students came into class completely out of it. She didn't want to participate, she was agitated and disengaged from the whole class. I went and spoke to her asking what was wrong. She was hesitant to answer but once I asked her, \"Did you eat anything for the day\". She looked up at me and I could tell just by the look on her face. I encouraged her to follow me to the locker and pick a snack she'd like to eat. She smiled. She picked one up and quietly said, \"thank you Williams\". Minutes later after she finished her snack outside she came in and asked if she can play on a team for the group activity. That's when I knew that your gift of giving to this cause was worth it. \r\n\r\nKeep doing what you're doing, there's so many children that benefit from your giving. My students came daily requesting a snack and I was happy to be able to provide for them because of you. Because of your donations my students were able to build trust in me. They felt like they could trust that I would be there for them because I was able to provide. Myself and the kids are eternally thankful for what you've done.","fullyFundedDate":1732939732163,"projectUrl":"project/help-student-hunger/8738045/","projectTitle":"Help Student Hunger!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9415620_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y292&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1702839288975","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9415620"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_97522","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":325,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":21,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":71,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":49.2,"schoolId":97522,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Urban Assembly School For Green Careers on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Urban Assembly School For Green Careers","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/urban-assem-school-green-campus/97522"}
