Many 8th graders tried fruits, nuts, and whole grains, which broadened their understanding of what a balanced diet could look like. This exposure helped break down barriers of unfamiliarity and encouraged students to be adventurous eaters, while also showing them that healthy foods could be flavorful and satisfying.\r\nEventually students began incorporated these foods into their own diets and incorporated new healthy foods into their daily lives.\r\n\r\nStudents expressed that eating nourishing foods made them feel more positive and emotionally balanced, reducing irritability and stress during the school day. This connection between nutrition and emotional well-being reinforced the idea that food is not just fuel for the body, but also a foundation for mental health. Several expressed feeling more energized, less sluggish, and improvement in concentrate. I also observed improvements in participation, attentiveness, and stamina during lessons which I believe were linked to these changes. In addition, this prompted students' to reflect on their own traditions, helping them see how their cultural foods could be adapted or celebrated in healthier ways. \r\nUltimately, the project demonstrated that access to healthy foods was transformative. This project expanded students' palates, boosted their energy and focus, and strengthened the link between nutrition, academic success, and emotional resilience.","fullyFundedDate":1728309968290,"projectUrl":"project/promoting-healthy-eating-habits/8734172/","projectTitle":"Promoting Healthy Eating Habits","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bennett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-bennett-gps"},{"teacherId":8657028,"projectId":9323849,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation to help my class get headphones for their technology time.\r\n\r\n\r\nTechnology has become a powerful tool in our classrooms, helping students engage with lessons in ways that weren't possible before. For example, interactive platforms allow students to receive immediate feedback, so they can learn from mistakes in real-time. Programs adjust to each student's level, giving extra practice where it's needed and pushing further when students are ready to advance. This makes learning more personalized and keeps students motivated. Technology also helps students collaborate more easily and access information and resources beyond the classroom walls.\r\n\r\nOur students are especially excited about the hands-on, interactive nature of the new product. Whether it's using tablets to code their own animations or virtual labs that let them experiment safely and repeatedly, they're thrilled to explore and create. Many have said it \"feels like playing\" while they're learning, which keeps them deeply engaged and curious.\r\n\r\nWe've seen some wonderful growth in students who previously struggled to participate. One student who is typically quiet during discussions has become a leader during group tech projects, using the platform to express ideas confidently. It was a powerful moment, as they realized that these books were theirs to explore, learn from, and grow with.\r\n\r\nSince the books have been introduced, we've seen amazing growth in our students' reading levels. One student, who typically struggles with verbal communication and reading lit up as he was able to utilize the headphones with his device to complete the activity.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' reactions were priceless. Their eyes widened with curiosity as they explored the vibrant colors and unique textures. The adaptive tools, designed to accommodate various fine motor skill levels, empowered them to participate more fully in classroom activities. Students will use tablets to record their voices narrating their storyboards, fostering both literacy and technology skills while providing a platform for self-expression and creativity.","fullyFundedDate":1740767640623,"projectUrl":"project/engaging-minds-in-middle-school/9028946/","projectTitle":"Engaging Minds in Middle School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. covay-parkes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9740990"},{"teacherId":41763,"projectId":9217845,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting my classroom library.
