When the new sensory materials arrived, my students' eyes lit up with excitement and wonder.\r\n\r\nFirst Moments of Discovery\r\nOn the first day, we introduced the calming corner, I watched in awe as students carefully explored the soft pillows, sensory toys, and tactile fidget tools. One student, Azari, who typically struggles with sensory overload, sat down with a sensory lap pad and visibly relaxed. His shoulders dropped, and for the first time in months, I saw genuine peace in his expression.\r\n\r\nHow We're Using the Resources\r\nOur calming corner has become a critical space for emotional regulation and self-management. During our writing workshop, students who feel overwhelmed can now take a brief, structured break. They practice deep breathing and return to their work with renewed focus.\r\n\r\nCurrent Project: Emotional Intelligence Journey\r\nWe're currently developing a classroom project about recognizing and managing emotions. The calming corner resources are integral to this learning. Students are creating personal emotion regulation strategies, documenting how different sensory tools help them navigate challenging feelings.\r\n\r\nA Heartfelt Thank You\r\nYour generosity has given my students more than materials—you've provided them a safe space to understand and care for themselves. My scholars have loved our literacy center materials, literacy and math enrichment activities from Teachers Pay Teachers thanks to you all. We now have five literacy centers rotating during our center time to support what they have learned during phonics. Scholars are now being challenged during math lessons. Scholars are also having so much fun while learning. The centers varies from practicing writing high frequency words and complete sentences to activities where they are manipulating and changes words. Due to these center activities, scholars also have the chance to work together and learn from one another. And, most of all, scholars have been showing growth and progress in their data and exams.\r\n\r\nMy scholars were so excited and full of joy when they first saw the materials.
