Many of my learners crave movement and sensory input to regulate their bodies. The new equipment has provided a safe and structured way for them to meet those needs.\r\n\r\nWe are using the vestibular station as part of scheduled sensory breaks and individualized regulation plans. Students access it before challenging tasks, during transitions, or when they need support with self-regulation. Since incorporating it into our daily routine, we have seen improved focus, fewer behavioral escalations, and smoother transitions.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment occurred when a student who often struggles after lunch used the vestibular equipment for a brief movement break. Afterward, they returned to class calm, regulated, and ready to participate — something that previously took much longer to achieve.\r\n\r\nNext, we are teaching students to independently identify when they need sensory input and appropriately request a break. This builds lifelong self-regulation skills.\r\n\r\nYour support has provided more than equipment — it has provided access to learning by helping students feel regulated and ready to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1669750194688,"projectUrl":"project/we-need-a-vestibular-input-station/6873463/","projectTitle":"We Need a Vestibular Input Station","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grace","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4373163_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770920371723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/g-santiago"},{"teacherId":4373163,"projectId":6837628,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, motivation in our classroom has reached a whole new level.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials arrived, students were immediately excited to see the new incentives and structured supports. We introduced them as part of our goal-setting and positive behavior system, and the shift was noticeable right away. Students began participating more actively, completing assignments with greater independence, and showing pride in their accomplishments.\r\n\r\nWe now use these motivational tools daily to reinforce academic effort, appropriate communication, task completion, and positive peer interactions. For many of my students, having a clear and consistent reinforcement system helps reduce anxiety and increases focus.\r\n\r\nOne powerful moment occurred when a student who typically avoids difficult tasks worked through a full math assignment to earn their goal reward. When they achieved it, they smiled and said, \"I finished all of it!\" That sense of pride and ownership was incredible to witness.\r\n\r\nNext, we are helping students track their own goals and reflect on their progress, building independence and intrinsic motivation. Your support has helped create a classroom culture where effort is celebrated and success feels attainable.","fullyFundedDate":1664460604199,"projectUrl":"project/motivated-to-learn/6837628/","projectTitle":"Motivated To Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Grace","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4373163_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1770920371723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/g-santiago"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127325","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":34,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.8,"schoolId":127325,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about P469X @ PS 46 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"P469X @ PS 46","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/p469x-public-school-46/127325"}
