Because of you, our students now have dry erase markers and erasers, sentence strips, a wall timer, sensory toys, and special treasure box prizes that have already made a meaningful impact on our daily learning. We use the dry erase markers and sentence strips during small group reading and writing lessons. Students practice building sentences, identifying sight words, and solving math problems right at their seats. One special moment was watching a student who usually hesitates to participate eagerly hold up their dry erase board to show their complete sentence. The ability to quickly write, erase, and try again has boosted both confidence and engagement.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students were especially thrilled to see the treasure box and sensory toys. There were wide eyes and huge smiles as I explained how they could earn a visit to the treasure box through positive behavior and hard work. The sensory tools have already helped several students stay focused and calm during independent work time. The wall timer has also been a game changer—it helps students visually understand how much time they have to complete a task, building independence and responsibility.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these materials during our guided reading rotations and math centers. Students will use sentence strips to build more complex sentences and practice storytelling, while dry erase boards will support problem-solving and quick formative assessments. The treasure box will continue to reinforce positive choices and classroom community. Your generosity has strengthened both our learning environment and our classroom culture. Thank you for investing in our students and helping create a space where they feel supported, motivated, and excited to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1758898887542,"projectUrl":"project/equipping-young-learners-for-a-strong-st/9657746/","projectTitle":"Equipping Young Learners for a Strong Start","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McLean","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8150602_orig.jpg?crop=659,660,x0,y74&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1634955417906","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8150602"},{"teacherId":9240242,"projectId":9090161,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our Black History Talent Show was a powerful success that left a lasting impression on our students and school community. The resources you helped provide—such as microphones, costumes, props, and supplies—allowed our scholars to step into roles that celebrated influential Black leaders, artists, and changemakers. Through poetry, dance, visual art, and song, students were able to creatively express what Black History means to them. One of the most moving moments was when a group of students delivered a spoken word tribute paired with a modern dance that honored Black excellence—many of whom were first-time performers beaming with pride. These resources turned their vision into reality, giving them the tools they needed to share their voices and stories with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was undeniable. Many couldn't believe they had access to \"real\" performance supplies, and their motivation soared. The impact went beyond just one evening—this experience helped students build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging. Several students who were usually shy began participating more in class and even asked when the next show would be. As we move forward, we plan to carry the momentum into future projects where students can continue expressing themselves through art, performance, and history. Your donation didn't just support a show—it ignited creativity, inspired leadership, and gave our scholars a moment to shine.
