Their excitement was immediate—you could see their faces light up as they gathered around, eager to explore. The sensory table quickly became a hub of curiosity and calm engagement, while the spinning chair brought bursts of joy, laughter, and focused movement. It was clear that both pieces made the environment feel more welcoming and supportive, and the students couldn't wait to take turns and make them part of their daily routine.\r\n\r\nThe students also showed so much love for the new books and games. They eagerly flipped through the pages, shared stories with one another, and dove right into the games with excitement and focus. It was wonderful to see how engaged they were—reading, playing, and learning together—making the classroom feel even more inviting and joyful.","fullyFundedDate":1764888069668,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-our-language-explosion/9939953/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Our Language Explosion!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Griffith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/228219"},{"teacherId":6333371,"projectId":8938945,"letterContent":"We are thrilled to share the incredible impact your generous contributions have had on our first graders. Thanks to your support, we have been able to provide our students with new sensory tools that have quickly become essential to their learning and well-being. These tools are helping our first graders engage with their education in meaningful ways, especially for those who need extra support in regulating their emotions and focus throughout the school day. From our Kinnebar foot swing to our therabands, the sensory tools are offering our students opportunities to self-regulate, improve their attention span, and feel more comfortable in their classroom environment.\r\n\r\nOur first graders have embraced these new resources, using them throughout the day during independent work, group activities, and even as a calm-down tool when emotions run high. Teachers have noticed a positive change in student participation and behavior, with many students able to stay focused for longer periods and actively engage with the lesson material. The sensory tools have fostered a greater sense of inclusion, allowing each child to feel empowered to learn in their own way.\r\n\r\nAs we look ahead, our next steps with these resources include continuing to introduce new sensory tools that can further support specific student needs, such as additional weighted items or sensory breaks. We are excited to see the continued growth and success of our students, and we could not have achieved this without your ongoing support.","fullyFundedDate":1731521375472,"projectUrl":"project/sparking-focus-sensory-tools-for-active/8938945/","projectTitle":"Sparking Focus: Sensory Tools for Active Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schaible and Mrs. Griffith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6333371"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_21161","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":238,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"12.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":88.1,"schoolId":21161,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Walter B Howard Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Walter B Howard Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-lebanon-central-school-district/walter-b-howard-elementary-school/21161"}
