Because of your support, my students received 15 colorful and durable headphones, and the impact on our classroom environment has been immediate and transformative. Your thoughtful gift has made a significant difference, particularly during our math centers. \r\n\r\nBefore the headphones arrived, our classroom was often a competition of sounds. While the exciting graphics and auditory rewards of online math fluency games were effective, the noise was a constant distraction, making it difficult for students to focus both during independent work and small-group instruction. With your support, students using iPads for interactive math activities are able to focus more deeply without being distracted by surrounding noise. They can fully concentrate on the amazing visuals and detailed instruction in the online math videos, or lock into their fluency games, improving their number sense without being distracted by their peers.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the headphones have created a more peaceful and productive environment for the other groups, too, whether they are receiving direct instruction from me or working independently at their desks. I can now work intensively with a small group of students without the distraction of the high-energy sounds coming from classroom devices. My students and I can focus entirely on the lesson at hand. Students who were working independently used to constantly get out of their chairs to see why someone's iPad was making a certain noise, but now they are staying focused on their own work. \r\n\r\nThe headphones have truly enhanced learning for all students. My students and I are so grateful for your support and for believing in the power of early education.","fullyFundedDate":1744032832240,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-help-us-focus/9198805/","projectTitle":"Headphones Help Us Focus","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mooney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/beleckas"},{"teacherId":414884,"projectId":9107405,"letterContent":"Thank you so much to all of the generous donors who helped me organize my kindergarten math centers! Kindergarten classrooms can turn very chaotic without clear rules, structured routines, strong relationships with students, positive reinforcement, varied instruction, stimulating activities, and organized spaces. Your donation has helped improve almost all of these areas!\r\n\r\nBeing able to offer fidget and squishy toys as incentives has helped motivate my students in so many ways. I set high expectations for my kindergarten mathematicians when it comes to effort, performance, problem solving, and work ethic, so they were especially excited to hear about the new prizes and rewards they could earn for working hard and trying their best. While facilitating math centers, I randomly reward students who are working cooperatively with peers or showing perseverance. Every Friday, I take time to recognize all of the students who have completed their online math assignments and reward them with squishy toys. In the middle of the year, I could tell that students were getting bored with some of our daily math routines, and the prizes helped refresh and motivate them.\r\n\r\nThe cardstock, bags, and pouches have helped me create new and engaging activities for my students. I have designed and printed so many colorful math games involving dice, spinners, and strategy on the cardstock you donated. I have been able to store these games in the easy-to-open mesh bags which helps make students more independent when working and also makes the games more available to them. The magnetic pouches are perfect for holding dice, spinners, and crayons, and I was able to hang them low enough for my students to reach on their own. Students understand where supplies and games belong which promotes clean-up in the most wonderful way. Your donations have helped me add more variety to our math centers and keep my students engaged even while the curriculum becomes more challenging.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making our math centers so much more meaningful and for helping our classroom stay organized. My students are benefiting so much from your generosity, and I am so grateful for the support, as well. I will continue to use these materials for years to come and support the learning of so many more students.
