Since obtaining flexible seating options such as bean bag chairs, high-top tables, and alternative seating arrangements, both my students and I have been able to use the classroom space in more intentional and student-centered ways. These new resources are used daily during independent work, small-group instruction, and project-based learning. Students are now able to choose seating that best fits their learning needs, whether that means sitting upright at a high-top table to stay focused during structured tasks or using a bean bag chair during reading, research, or reflection activities.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials, their reaction was overwhelmingly positive. There was an immediate sense of excitement and curiosity, with many students expressing that the classroom felt more welcoming and comfortable. Beyond the initial excitement, students quickly demonstrated responsibility in using the seating appropriately. Several students shared that having seating choices helped them concentrate better and feel more relaxed during longer class periods.\r\n\r\nOverall, the flexible seating has not only improved student engagement but has also fostered a sense of trust, independence, and respect within the classroom. These resources have transformed the physical space into a learning environment that better supports diverse learning styles and encourages active participation.","fullyFundedDate":1756997335241,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating/9659404/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hampton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10229109"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_22068","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":148,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"5.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":84.0,"schoolId":22068,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Jefferson Central School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Jefferson Central School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/jefferson-central-school-district/jefferson-central-school/22068"}
