This school year, students will learn how to properly press and dry flowers from our garden and then turn their beautiful preserved flowers into unique buttons.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the button maker, they were immediately curious and excited about what they could create with it. They loved the idea that something they grew and cared for could be transformed into something they could share with others. It has provided a wonderful opportunity to connect our hands-on gardening experiences with art, design, and real-world problem solving.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to teach students the process of pressing and drying flowers, selecting and arranging the dried flowers, and learning how to safely use the button maker to create their finished designs. Students will have the opportunity to experiment with different flower combinations and create their own one-of-a-kind buttons.\r\n\r\nThe buttons will eventually be sold as a Garden Club fundraiser, with the proceeds going directly toward our goal of developing and maintaining a Native Plant Garden at our school. This project will help students see how their creativity and hard work can make a difference in their own school community.
