While many of our donors love to read, what you've helped provide are powerful tools for teaching. These texts allow us to explicitly model comprehension strategies such as making inferences, analyzing character motivation, identifying theme, and evaluating author's craft. They also support vocabulary development, text structure analysis, and meaningful discussions around perspective and empathy. With high-interest selections, students are more willing to engage in close reading, annotation, and thoughtful dialogue, which strengthens both literacy skills and critical thinking.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is active and collaborative. You might see students in book clubs debating a character's choice, partners tracking themes across chapters, or independent readers curled up in cozy corners fully immersed in a story. We balance joyful independent reading with purposeful mini-lessons and guided discussions. Students reflect in reading journals, participate in inquiry-based projects, and connect texts to STEM, social studies, and real-world issues. The new books have made it easier to differentiate instruction so every learner can find both challenge and success.\r\n\r\nThere are particular students who light up when new titles arrive. Some of my more reluctant readers are gravitating toward high-interest series and finally experiencing reading stamina and confidence. Advanced readers are diving deeper into complex themes and leading thoughtful discussions. One student who previously struggled to finish a book recently asked if she could take her new favorite home \"just to read one more chapter.\" Moments like that are the true measure of impact.
