Students in the 8th grade class used these materials as they designed and prototyped boats. During this activity the students designed boats in Tinkercad. They then printed their final designs and tested to ensure they floated and could hold a lego figure. We then created waves to ensure their design could hold up to severe conditions. \r\n\r\nThe filament dryer was a nice addition to the classroom, allowing for smooth reliable feeding to our two 3D printers. The calipers were used by the students to ensure accuracy in their designs and to ensure the lego figure would fit into their final model.\r\n\r\nThe students enjoy design and printing items so much that we are expanding our curriculum over the next two school years to increase their exposure and familiarity with this technology.","fullyFundedDate":1770809461957,"projectUrl":"project/additive-manufacturing-and-the-engineeri/10054882/","projectTitle":"Additive Manufacturing and the Engineering Design Process","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Schneider","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9899997_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1768340035723","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9899997"},{"teacherId":4509286,"projectId":9716708,"letterContent":"My students had a wonderful time using their hydroponic garden. Your support has made a meaningful impact on both my students and our daily learning experience.\r\n\r\nWhen I introduced the new materials to the class, the students were genuinely thrilled. Many of my students don't have consistent access to school supplies at home, so being able to borrow materials for in class assignments and for other classes has been especially helpful.\r\n\r\nThe resources have also made a noticeable difference in how smoothly our lessons run. With individual headphones, students can now complete Edpuzzle assignments and other video-based tasks without distraction, allowing for better focus and individualized learning. The whiteboards have become a favorite for review games and practice activities—making learning more interactive and engaging.\r\n\r\nThese tools have truly elevated what we're able to do in the classroom, and they've brought a new level of excitement and participation to our routines. Students are more involved, more eager to contribute, and often ask to use the materials even beyond our scheduled lessons. Looking ahead to next year, I'm excited to incorporate a wider variety of learning styles and activities into our lessons. Thanks to these resources, I can plan more creative, hands-on, and differentiated instruction to better meet my students' needs.\r\n\r\nWe feel incredibly lucky to have received this support and are deeply grateful for your generosity. Thank you for investing in our students and helping create a more equitable, engaging, and inspiring learning environment.","fullyFundedDate":1746785582659,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-supplies-for-students/9255899/","projectTitle":"Classroom Supplies for Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Storch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9999057"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_21833","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":863,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":4,"gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":54.3,"schoolId":21833,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dunkirk High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dunkirk High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/dunkirk-city-schools/dunkirk-high-school/21833"}
