As a special education teacher, having access to Velcro, laminating sheets, and other classroom essentials has made it easier to create hands-on, durable learning tools that support my students' individual needs. On the very first day, I used the laminating sheets to make personalized visual schedules, communication boards, and task cards that can now be reused daily. The Velcro allowed me to adapt these materials for interactive learning, helping students with limited verbal skills actively participate in lessons.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was during a matching activity using laminated picture cards and Velcro strips. One of my students, who typically avoids table work, was visibly more engaged and independently matched all the pictures to their correct categories. Another student used a laminated choice board to make snack requests with confidence and clarity. Seeing their eyes light up as they realized they could communicate and interact with ease was incredibly rewarding. These small, durable tools are supporting big leaps in independence, focus, and communication.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue expanding these tools to include daily living skills activities, such as step-by-step routines and adaptive work tasks. We're also starting a classroom project where students will build their own \"All About Me\" books using laminated pages and Velcro pieces to personalize and practice key vocabulary. These resources are helping us build a more structured and accessible classroom environment—thank you for helping us make it possible!","fullyFundedDate":1746699645344,"projectUrl":"project/back-to-basics/9192517/","projectTitle":"Back to Basics","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McDermott","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp244179_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1463343582975","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/sascham"},{"teacherId":8946863,"projectId":9095388,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project, Exploring the African Savanna: A First Grade Science Adventure!
