The moment students saw the soccer balls, jump ropes, parachute, and peanut balls, they were eager to participate and explore. Many students smiled, clapped, and asked when they could start using the new equipment. These materials are now used daily during our movement classes. Students practice kicking, dribbling, and passing soccer balls to build gross motor skills and teamwork. Jump ropes are incorporated into warm-up routines to strengthen coordination, endurance, and rhythm, while the parachute activities encourage cooperation, listening skills, and full-body movement in a joyful and inclusive way.\r\n\r\nOne especially meaningful moment occurred during a structured movement lesson using the peanut balls for sensory support. Several students who typically struggle with balance or body awareness were able to sit, rock, and bounce safely while participating in gym activities. This allowed them to remain engaged and regulated throughout the lesson, making transitions smoother and helping them fully participate alongside their peers. Seeing students who often hesitate during movement activities gain confidence and independence has been incredibly rewarding. The equipment has helped create a gym environment where every student feels supported, successful, and excited to move.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our next steps in gym class include expanding movement stations, introducing simple team games, and increasing student endurance and cooperation through structured group activities. Students are beginning to follow multi-step movement directions, take turns during games, and demonstrate improved self-regulation and sportsmanship. Your support has truly transformed our gym program into a space where movement, confidence, and joy come together, and where students are building skills that will benefit them both in and beyond the gym.","fullyFundedDate":1758899245979,"projectUrl":"project/movement-for-all-physical-education-for/9665354/","projectTitle":"Movement for All: Physical Education for Students with Disabilities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sierra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mspalomasgymclass"},{"teacherId":4267280,"projectId":9263701,"letterContent":"The SPLISH-SPLASH sensory-filled water day at our little school in the Hamilton Heights neighborhood of NYC was a hit thanks to your generous donations! \r\n\r\nThe large splash pad accommodated more kids than ever before, the buckets of fun had the kids roaring when it dumped water on them, the small pools were very cooling, beach balls flew everywhere, the hose faucet splitter and the hose connectors made it possible for us to run three water activities at once, the water toys were perfect for the kids who did not want to get fully wet, all the bubbles every where made it feel magical and the sound of laughter was music to our ears.\r\n\r\nNot only do many of our students come from low-income families who struggle with every day needs, but some families avoid outings because it's so stressful leaving the house with their special needs child! It is rewarding to give them such a special day, where they can play freely and joyfully. They look forward to it every June, and now thanks to you, we have better water toys that we can use again next year!\r\n\r\nHearing some of our verbal students say \"this is the best day of my life!\" makes it all worth while.
