The moment the new materials arrived, my students' faces lit up with excitement — especially when they discovered the sensory tools and hands‑on learning games. One of my favorite moments so far was during our morning literacy block: a student who typically struggles to stay regulated settled in with a weighted lap pad and quietly engaged with an adapted alphabet puzzle for the very first time. That small moment of focus and pride was made possible because of you.\r\n\r\nWe've already begun using the new resources to support daily routines, sensory regulation, and foundational academic skills. The room divider has helped create a peaceful reading nook where students can explore adapted books like Pete the Cat, while the magnetic tiles and abacus have become instant favorites during math centers. The printer has allowed me to create individualized visual supports that help my students navigate transitions with confidence. Even simple tools like the chair bands and timers have made a noticeable difference in helping students stay engaged and comfortable during lessons.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to play a key role in our current projects. We're beginning a unit on story sequencing, and students will use the doodle boards and magnetic games to retell stories in their own creative ways. We're also building independence by practicing classroom jobs, supported by the visual schedules and organizational tools you helped provide. Your contribution didn't just supply materials — it opened doors for my students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an environment designed for their success.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping create a classroom where they feel safe, supported, and excited to learn every day.","fullyFundedDate":1758237096237,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-bright-start-for-k2-learners/9705235/","projectTitle":"Building a Bright Start for K–2 Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Malone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8891235_orig.png?crop=660,660,x0,y101&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757597859549","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8891235"},{"teacherId":2987451,"projectId":9709473,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for making our sensory room a reality. Because of your generosity, what was once an empty classroom has become a calm, welcoming space where our autistic kindergarten students can regulate their bodies, feel safe, and return to learning ready and focused.\r\n\r\nI built this room using the materials you helped provide, and the impact has been immediate and meaningful. Students often arrive dysregulated, upset, or overwhelmed, but after spending time in this room, they leave calmer, more grounded, and better able to participate in their classroom routines.\r\n\r\nThis sensory room is especially important in our low-income NYC public school, where many families don't have access to therapy equipment or sensory supports at home. Because of you, our students now have a space designed specifically for their needs; one that supports movement, calming, exploration, and growth.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and for investing in their well-being.
