Thanks to your contribution, students have access to high-quality headphones and are actively using them every day. This gift is more than convenience; it is a critical step toward achieving educational equity, ensuring that every student, regardless of their background or reading level, can fully engage with high-level, complex academic content.\r\n\r\nOur 6th graders are currently immersed in the fascinating world of Ancient History, working as junior archaeologists to analyze evidence from sites like the Neolithic settlement of Çatalhöyük. The core challenge of this unit is to synthesize primary and secondary sources—including academic articles, expert video analyses, and detailed digital museum artifacts—to answer a complex question: Was Çatalhöhöyük truly a civilization? This challenging, evidence-based task is designed to push their analytical skills, but it requires them to access material that often exceeds their current reading proficiency.\r\n\r\nWhile every student has a Chromebook, the lack of quality, personal headphones created an immediate access barrier. Many of our families face economic constraints and could not afford to provide the necessary equipment. This meant that students who struggled with reading, or those who needed the privacy of audio support for special education accommodations, were unable to utilize the digital tools designed to help them. The class set of headphones you provided immediately bridges this divide. Students can now listen to the text while simultaneously following along, dramatically improving comprehension and vocabulary acquisition. This inclusive approach directly supports students with special needs, allowing them to utilize individualized accommodations without disruption to their peers.\r\n\r\nJust as an archaeologist needs specialized tools to analyze evidence, our students need their headphones to process complex digital evidence. This direct, equitable access allows every student to participate fully in our academic inquiry, moving from passive learners to active, evidence-driven scholars. They are no longer limited by their current reading fluency; they are empowered by the technology to tackle grade-level content, prove their hypotheses, and feel the pride of academic success.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity. You have turned potential barriers into doorways, ensuring that our next generation of historians and critical thinkers all have the tools they need to succeed. We are deeply grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1756506169780,"projectUrl":"project/6th-grade-ss-super-stars/9619318/","projectTitle":"6th Grade SS Super Stars","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Crewell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10186703_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756006071745","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10186703"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_23692","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":343,"numTeachers":34,"percentFrplEligible":72,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":90,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 9","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":23692,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about William H Golding Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"William H Golding Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/cobleskill-richmondville-school-district/william-h-golding-middle-school/23692"}
