It has been such a relief to have Teachers Pay Teachers funds available to find relevant and engaging activities to tie into our different units. The students have thoroughly enjoyed the different projects--they were so invested in our Christmas Crime Scene projects we did before Christmas break! They are also excited for our next project where they will be researching a serial killer and designing an informational cereal box incorporating their findings and adding a little creative flair! \r\n\r\nI've also enjoyed incorporating podcasts and true crime literature into our regular classroom routine. The students are able to listen to their podcasts with ease with the new headphones. They have seemed to enjoy unwinding with their new books at the end of the week, too! \r\n\r\nIt can be overwhelming taking on a new course and starting from scratch, so I truly appreciate your support as I work to design a hands on class that keeps the kids wanting to dive in and interact with science!","fullyFundedDate":1762381799433,"projectUrl":"project/csi-classroom-science-investigators-bu/9873455/","projectTitle":"CSI: Classroom Science Investigators. We were gearing up to welcome hermit crabs into our \"family,\" but we were able to take in two guinea pigs in need of a new home instead. It's safe to say the boys-- Nutmeg and Cannoli-- are enjoying their new home and the kids are definitely enjoying their company! There have already been so many awesome conversations about habitat, diet, predator/prey relationships, and more! I think it will also make you smile to know that students have created an entire wall of their drawings of the guinea pigs, and one group is even building a hut for them in their woodshop class! \r\n\r\nIn addition to the home and accessories for the guinea pigs, we are equally excited for all of the neat opportunities your donations have provided for the upcoming year of science club! The students are ready to design, create, and explore areas such as food chemistry, circuit building, robotics, and environmentally-friendly plastic alternatives. This month, we will be experimenting with different recipes for rock candy for a sweet Halloween treat! This is what science is all about.
