What you gave us is so much more than a learning resource, it has truly transformed the feeling, flow, and sense of community in our classroom.\r\n\r\nFrom the very first day the rug arrived, it immediately became the heart of our space. We use it daily for morning meetings, mini-lessons, read-alouds, partner turn-and-talks, and class discussions. It has become our go-to gathering place, where students feel comfortable sitting together, listening closely, and sharing their ideas. One especially meaningful moment happened during our poetry unit, when students sat together on the rug and volunteered to read their poems aloud. The rug created a calm, welcoming environment where students felt safe taking risks, expressing themselves, and cheering one another on. Seeing their confidence grow in that space was incredibly powerful.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the rug, their reaction said it all. Their faces lit up with excitement, and they immediately rushed over to sit on it, touch it, and admire it. They couldn't stop talking about how soft and inviting it felt. Several students shared that it made the classroom feel warmer and more comfortable, and one even said it felt like \"a place where we can really learn together.\" That initial excitement has continued every single day. Students eagerly ask when we can meet on the rug, and they take pride in keeping it clean and cared for because they know it was a gift given with kindness.\r\n\r\nYour donation gave my students a space that supports both learning and belonging. It has helped foster meaningful conversations, collaboration, and connection among classmates. As we move forward, the rug will continue to be a central part of our classroom as we begin new units that focus on group problem-solving, discussions, and hands-on learning. It will also be used during upcoming projects where students work together, share feedback, and reflect on their learning as a community.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my classroom feels more like a home and less like just a room with desks. You gave my students a place where they feel comfortable, valued, and excited to learn. Your generosity has made a lasting impact, and it will continue to support my students long after this school year ends.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and for helping create a classroom where learning is joyful, meaningful, and shared.","fullyFundedDate":1769192030016,"projectUrl":"project/road-for-the-rug/9985635/","projectTitle":"Road for the Rug!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9269297_orig.jpg?crop=3022,3022,x0,y141&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757285228066","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9269297"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_21091","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":550,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":93,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"19.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":21091,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cato Meridian Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cato Meridian Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/cato-meridian-central-school-district/cato-meridian-elementary-school/21091"}
