We love our classroom pet, French Fry, the crested gecko. We were able to upgrade his home and continue to provide him as much as we can for a healthy life.\r\n\r\nWe put together and designed our new enclosure today!! The students followed the directions and worked together to assemble the enclosure. This was a great team building activity. We worked together to put in the background, substrate, branches and plants to make the best looking habitat we could design. \r\n\r\nAs a class we are very proud of the enclosure that we made for French Fry and know that he will just love it and thrive. We will be getting fertile eggs that will be donated from local farmers. I have made several fun hands on activities to chart and understand the growth of a chick embryo so we can complete our charts during the progress of our eggs. The students are very excited. None of my students have every incubated eggs. Some of the students have seen chickens before but most of them have not. I plan to keep the chicks in my classroom for one or two days before we return them to the farms that donated the eggs for us to incubate. We are excited to set out our cozy and inviting reading corner. I have begun to set up the new books on a shelf in our new reading area. I will make reading banners and flags to decorate this area as well as hot cocoa mugs to make this area even more inviting. I have made a record sheet so each student can take turns borrowing the classroom kindle as well as the books if they would like to take them home or to study halls to continue to read.\r\n\r\nThis reading area will help create and increase interest in reading for my students. I have been working so hard on fostering a love for learning with my students.
