Each items is being utilized and enjoyed.\r\n The first item, a puzzle board with drawers, is already being used for its second puzzle. I have even used it in conjunction with my first Donors Choose project that included an assortment of puzzles. Students use it during their lunch or free time. I love how students flock to it and really engage in the puzzles. I think there is a lot to be said for building puzzles. Since the tray is portable, I am able to move it around the library space. \r\n The second item was a 6-cube storage bin shelf for Makerspace items. My Kindergarten-1st grade students are each given a bin of activities for their table during the end of their library time. This bin system works great with my tables from a previous Donors Choose project. This gives them something creative to do while I can focus on helping students find their library books. My students have been amazing at picking up the items and returning them to the shelving unit. They almost see it as a surprise when I give them a bin. I can see myself adding many more items to the bins for future use.\r\n My third item was a desk on wheels. Currently, I am using it as an extension of my tall desk so that my \"littles\" and older students can place their books on it during checkout. I have also used it right at my small classroom within the library space to check out books. This way, I can be right there with my students. \r\n All these items are greatly appreciated by my students and myself. I have created my first displays with them. I found that they provided a great platform for enhancing my decor in a creative and also useful way for enticing students. They may even try out a new genre. Within minutes, my students have already noticed them. I like how with a few books and decorative pieces that I had on hand, I could quickly make a new \"attraction\" for the library space. \r\n\r\n I can see where the book carts will be used for creating quick displays. I think they may even provide my library club members with a way to make the library more personable with relatable topics of interest. I am already thinking of different themes such as for our summer reading, Manga, and all holidays. They were so excited to be the first ones to use the new space especially since my library has been closed due to a floor re-model. So, it was especially perfect as they were the first ones back into the library and also had this new space. I shared the story, Love Monster, with them and I really felt the love of my Donors Choose community in providing this opportunity for my \"littles.\" We did a fun activity after the story. They had their new glue sticks and scissors to use for sharing about the characters, setting, problem, and solution in the story. One of the student thought that it was amazing that they were Amazon brand glues sticks and also that they were brand new. I am not sure who enjoyed the experience more. It was a wonderful feeling to be able to provide what they needed to have this moment and many. many more into the future. \r\n\r\nIt was truly nice share the new tables and new school supplies. My previous scissors did not fit their hands correctly. I enjoyed seeing them working in the space that was perfect for them. I look forward to using the tables and chairs with my other 1st graders, Kindergarteners, and 2nd graders as we do lessons and share STEM centers. They will be able to have tables just for them to use and enjoy as they explore the library.
