My students are fully engaged in their learning!! My students have begun using the Legos to build their own creations for their writing pieces. Allowing them to build first has helped them get their ideas flowing, where they had been stuck before. Using the Legos to build their ideas has helped them to see their vision more clearly and even extend their thinking and imagination. The Legos have helped my struggling students as well. They can attempt to create a story and describe their thinking by building a creation first. Then, verbally tell me a story, rather than writing. They don't feel left out; they feel included, and are increasing their skills as well.\r\n\r\nMy higher-level students chose the book, \"The Chronicles of Narnia,\" as their first chapter book to explore. The chapter book is helping my students build their vocabulary, tackle difficult words, and build scenes of the story in their minds, even without pictures. I'm also able to give them more challenging assignments. I'm so impressed with how well they're all reading. They're taking more difficult books in 2nd grade! I'm able to help lift them up even higher and keep their progress that they've made moving in the right direction. A special impact for me is that I get to see how my students are falling in love with the story just as I did as a child. \r\n\r\nThank you for providing us with an opportunity that we wouldn't have been able to experience without your generous support. You could see the difference it made in them. It gave them the energy they needed to push through those long afternoon hours. Instead of dragging through the end of the day, they were alert, focused, and ready to finish strong. For many of them, those snacks were more than just a quick treat; they were a way to fill their bellies before the long commute home on the bus. It was a simple gesture that met a real need and showed them they were cared for.\r\nWhen the kids first saw all the snacks arriving in the classroom, their excitement was instant and contagious. They jumped out of their seats with huge smiles, cheering and clapping like it was a celebration. The room was buzzing with joy and gratitude, and it was clear that this was a moment they wouldn't forget. That kind of joy over something so simple is a reminder of how much small acts of kindness can mean, especially to kids who appreciate every bit of care and generosity shown to them.","fullyFundedDate":1744651438532,"projectUrl":"project/snacks-for-the-long-afternoon/9256548/","projectTitle":"Snacks for the Long Afternoon","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lucero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9871218_orig.jpg?crop=1145,1145,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1733934522003","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9871218"},{"teacherId":9639712,"projectId":9190831,"letterContent":"I hope this letter finds you well. I want to simply say thank you from the bottom of my heart. It is because of your generosity and caring that I am able to help my students get through the school day without feeling hungry. These kids are very active and their energy levels need support throughout the day in order to be able to stay focused in the classroom. I only wish you could witness the excitement when they unpackage a delivery. It is pure joy. I have struggled at times to keep good snacks available for them, with 18+ students and the occasional hungry visitor from other class it was getting expensive. This has been a huge blessing.
