Students from low-income families have snacks that they can bring to the class to share with their peers. This helps to \"even out the playing field\" for students that are embarrassed they cannot afford snacks. \r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps include using these snacks to provide breakfast meals for students that are tardy. Your contribution has truly given our students the tools they need to grow academically and emotionally, and it has brought joy and renewed motivation into our classroom. Your contribution has brought fresh excitement and joy to our classroom reading experiences.\r\n\r\nThe new books have already made a meaningful impact. One of the books focus on using headphones when environments become too loud. These texts are especially beneficial for students who are learning strategies for self-regulation and sensory management. They help promote awareness, comfort, and understanding of how to handle overwhelming situations in a positive way.\r\n\r\nThe Pete the Cat books have been a huge hit! These engaging stories encourage choral reading (reading together as a class) and read-aloud singing, which make learning fun and interactive. Students practice important literacy skills such as vocabulary development, rhyming, identifying shapes and colors, and problem-solving—all while enjoying the rhythm and repetition of the stories.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading takes many forms. Students enjoy reading silently to themselves, reading aloud for me to listen, and participating in shared read-aloud sessions. I also love reading books aloud to the class for pure enjoyment. This allows students to hear what good reading sounds like and supports their listening comprehension and language growth.\r\n\r\nOur younger students, in particular, are enjoying these new additions. The book Kindness Is My Superpower has quickly become a favorite—it helps students recognize emotions and practice emotional regulation in a supportive, age-appropriate way.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and generosity. Your thoughtful donation has provided more than just books—it has created opportunities for engagement, learning, and a deeper love of reading among our students.","fullyFundedDate":1755701362366,"projectUrl":"project/we-need-new-books-for-our-school-library/9624544/","projectTitle":"We Need New Books for Our School Library, Please!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McKee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2398185_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1541186878661","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2398185"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82499","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":39,"numTeachers":10,"percentFrplEligible":68,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"3.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":82499,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Reserve Junior Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Reserve Junior Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/reserve-independent-school-district-1/reserve-junior-senior-high-school/82499"}
