Your generosity reaches far beyond snacks and supplies — it directly touches the lives of children who show up every day with courage, hope, and determination.\r\n\r\nOur classroom is filled with bright, resilient, and hard-working students who are eager to learn, even when life presents challenges. Many of them navigate difficulties outside of school. Yet they walk through our doors with smiles, big dreams, and a commitment to doing their best.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, I can make sure students have what they need to start their day with dignity and confidence. A simple breakfast, a healthy snack, or something as small as a fresh hair tie can completely shift a child's morning. These small items help students feel cared for, grounded, and ready to focus on learning.\r\n\r\nYour donation will provide warmth, comfort, and nourishment. With cereal cups, granola bars, crackers, applesauce, and fruit cups, no student will have to begin their day hungry. With hair ties and small combs available, students can feel neat and confident as they enter the classroom. These essentials may seem small, but to our students, they make a world of difference.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our kids and helping create a classroom where every student feels supported, valued, and ready to learn. Thanks to your support of our project, Reading Under the Big Top: A Carnival of Stories!, our school was transformed into a joyful celebration of literacy—complete with popcorn, cotton candy, pickles, games, and most importantly, families practicing reading together.\r\n\r\nOur family reading night was truly the greatest show on earth! It was our best turnout ever—students, siblings, parents, and grandparents gathered in record numbers to celebrate stories. Everywhere you looked, you could see families working together with smiling, laughing, and talking about characters, plots, fluency, phonemic awareness, rhymes, and more. The carnival-themed games added excitement and playfulness while still reinforcing key reading skills. Children practiced fluency at the \"Reading Ring Toss,\" decoded words at the \"Bean Bag Toss,\" followed written directions building their own \"Bumper Cars\", enjoyed rhyming at our \"Splat Game\", made story predictions, and many more games/ activities at the Reading Carnival It was learning disguised as fun—and it worked beautifully.\r\n\r\nIn our classrooms, the energy from the event has carried over. Students are still buzzing about their favorite parts and re-reading books they discovered that night. Our classroom libraries grew richer thanks to this project, giving students more choices that excite and engage them. One student told me, \"I didn't know reading could be this fun with my whole family!\" That's the kind of connection that lasts far beyond a single night.\r\n\r\nThis project didn't just support an event—it built a community of readers. Parents saw how fun and important reading can be, and students felt proud sharing that experience with the people they love most. Together, we're not just teaching reading skills—we're building a lifelong love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1744242631790,"projectUrl":"project/reading-under-the-big-top-a-carnival-o/9106162/","projectTitle":"\"Reading Under the Big Top: a Carnival of Stories!\"","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. D.","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp238863_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1470585508716","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/238863"},{"teacherId":238863,"projectId":9021711,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom has been transformed into a hub of curiosity, imagination, and pure reading joy! Our project, Magical, Mysterious, and Spine-Chilling Stories for Young Readers, brought a wave of excitement that's still echoing through our bookshelves—and our hearts.\r\n\r\nThe moment the box of books arrived, the room was filled with gasps, \"oohs,\" and \"aahs.\" Students rushed over, eyes wide, hands reaching, and noses close—yes, they were even smelling the books, soaking in the scent of fresh pages like they were opening treasure chests. The joy of opening a brand-new book, especially one full of magic and mystery, was a powerful moment for many of our readers.\r\n\r\nThese books haven't stayed on shelves for long—they're being passed around like trading cards. \"Can I borrow that one next?\" is a common request. Students who were once hesitant readers are now begging for more time with their books. It's not unusual to find them sneaking in a few more pages during transitions or free time.\r\n\r\nThis project didn't just put books in our hands—it lit a fire for reading that is spreading throughout the room. Students are even creating presentations to share what they've learned with our school community.\r\n\r\nUsing the infrared temperature guns, we've will be investigating heat sinks, water retention, and the effects of urban surfaces on temperature.
