They swarmed the boxes like it was an educational holiday morning. The STEM kits and hands-on supplies sparked instant curiosity — students were pulling out solar car parts, magnets, and modeling clay with wide eyes and big questions.\r\n\r\nOne student said, \"Wait, we actually get to build this? This is like science and art had a baby.\" Another excitedly asked, \"Can we use this on the next field trip? I wanna write on a rock!\" (Referring to the new Vaultz locking clipboards, not literal rock-writing. I hope.)\r\n\r\nWe used the clipboards right away during one of our Friday field trips. Students were able to write their nature reflections and collect observations on location — no more flying papers or trying to write on their knees. The Thule backpack has been a lifesaver for me personally — I use it every trip to carry journals, first aid supplies, and the ten extra pencils students forget to bring every single time.\r\n\r\nThe headphones have transformed quiet journaling time into actual quiet. One student said, \"It's so much easier to think when it's just me and the birds.\" (I'm taking that as a win for focus and poetic vibes.)\r\n\r\nRight now, we're using the STEM kits to explore energy and motion. Students are working in groups to build and test small solar cars and investigate magnets in motion. Next, they'll be designing their own experiments to test different energy sources, using our newly laminated field sheets (made possible by the laminator YOU helped fund).\r\n\r\nThis project has made a real impact in our classroom and out in the field — helping us stay organized, focused, and curious. Thank you for helping my students not just learn, but experience their learning in a deeper way.","fullyFundedDate":1755198574475,"projectUrl":"project/field-trips-forests-and-future-thinker/9540607/","projectTitle":"Field Trips, Forests, and Future Thinkers","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Garrett Ferguson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4053281_orig.jpg?crop=720,720,x281,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754432549094","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4053281"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31502","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":194,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":31502,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Aldo Leopold Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Aldo Leopold Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/new-mexico-department-of-education/aldo-leopold-high-school/31502"}
