With the new folding tables and canopy weight sets, we were able to transform our hallway, courtyard, and even local community spaces into STEM showrooms. My students could spread out their models and experiments, invite peers and family members to walk through their processes, answer questions, and teach others about the science behind their work. The hands-on, public display of their learning made science accessible and exciting - not just for them, but for the community.\r\n\r\nIn class, I was able to shift my planning to include presentation cycles - students now plan, build, test, and then set up mini-exhibits. The materials made it possible to incorporate peer review, \"gallery walks,\" and community STEM nights. Students refined their work after receiving live feedback from real audiences, improving not just content mastery, but communication, iteration, and critical thinking skills. Some students even commented that preparing a public display pushed them to think more deeply about how to explain their approach and reasoning clearly.","fullyFundedDate":1737220439496,"projectUrl":"project/sharing-stem-based-hands-on-learning-wit/9056151/","projectTitle":"Sharing Stem Based Hands on Learning With Our Communities","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Delgado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3265333_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1486460618092","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cubascience"},{"teacherId":3265333,"projectId":9044682,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, 0our students have been able to transform their STEM projects into learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom. The portable tables and canopy weights you provided allowed us to safely set up hands-on learning stations both inside and outside of school. This flexibility meant that students could collaborate in groups, spread out their experiments, and invite peers and families to engage with their work. They weren't just completing assignments—they were practicing how to communicate science, problem-solve in real time, and share discoveries with others.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been remarkable. Students gained confidence as they explained their experiments, and many commented that setting up their own displays made them \"feel like real scientists.\" The opportunity to present their work in a professional way not only deepened their understanding of the science concepts, but also taught them important skills in teamwork, communication, and leadership. What once felt like a simple classroom project became an event that connected their learning to the larger community exactly what we envisioned when we launched this project.\r\n\r\nYour support made these moments possible. You didn't just give us tables and equipment you gave our students the chance to see their learning come alive, to feel proud of their hard work, and to realize that their voices and ideas matter. Thank you for helping us reach our goals and for believing in the power of hands-on, community-centered STEM learning.","fullyFundedDate":1736669512613,"projectUrl":"project/support-outdoor-learning-stem-events/9044682/","projectTitle":"Support Outdoor Learning & STEM Events","teacherDisplayName":"Teacher Delgado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3265333_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1486460618092","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/cubascience"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82770","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":294,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":77,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":44.0,"schoolId":82770,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cuba High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cuba High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/cuba-independent-school-district/cuba-high-school/82770"}
