We've been able to use these books to help students gain a deeper understanding of the behaviors they observe in our horses—such as why they nicker when they see us, or why they might squeal or pin their ears back at each other.\r\n\r\nStudents are also using the books to research different riding disciplines, developing a sense of preference and understanding of styles such as English, jumping, western pleasure, and ranch work. Additionally, they've been able to explore the many breeds and colors that make up the incredible diversity of the equine world.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom looks a little different depending on grade level. Our younger students in grades K–2 are read short excerpts and then create pictures or short written responses. Students in grades 3–8 have more independence—they read on their own and complete more detailed written reflections.\r\n\r\nOne of our students, Tuff, and his sister Doc, absolutely adore horses. During any free moment in the barn, they're flipping through the books, looking at pictures, and asking questions about what they see. It's truly amazing to watch young children so captivated by learning about these magnificent animals.","fullyFundedDate":1765087724665,"projectUrl":"project/eagle-nest-horse-program/9940143/","projectTitle":"Eagle Nest Horse Program","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Solis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10367252"},{"teacherId":8237068,"projectId":9664487,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my middle school classroom.
