From the moment they saw all the LEGO sets, books, and materials, their excitement was contagious. They jumped right in, building, designing, and problem-solving with incredible focus and creativity. Using the LEGO guides as inspiration, students have created everything from imaginative structures to detailed designs of their own, and the pride they take in their work is wonderful to see. We've attached photos so you can catch a glimpse of the amazing projects taking shape in our classroom.\r\n\r\nOver the next twelve weeks, students will continue rotating through stations and expanding their creativity even further. While we haven't yet used the ChopSaw in class, it will be introduced in the next rotation. Our kindergarten through second-grade students will use it to create a fun cardboard cutout project to take home, while third through fifth graders will take on the challenge of designing and building a box. These hands-on projects help students build confidence, problem-solving skills, and persistence, all while having fun.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our goal is to gradually build students' skills throughout the year. Next year, we plan to begin with simple building projects and work up to more complex creations, with our older students eventually designing puppets and putting on a puppet show. For now, both myself and the educational assistant are learning and experimenting with the new tools so we can support students every step of the way. Thank you again for your generosity and continued support of the Griegos STEAM Lab—your contribution is making a meaningful difference for our students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1763597036002,"projectUrl":"project/building-brilliance-a-lego-station-for/9852628/","projectTitle":"Building Brilliance: A LEGO Station for Our STEAM Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Martinez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10326895_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y8&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761146438448","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10326895"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_82477","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":233,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.2,"schoolId":82477,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Griegos Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Griegos Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/albuquerque-public-schools/griegos-elementary-school/82477"}
