Your generosity is amazing! I am humbled by this experience.\r\n\r\nSecond, I want to tell you about our experience with the Chompsaw. Funding of the project was so timely because we were just beginning to work with cardboard to build simulated New York City skyscrapers. One student decided he was going to design and build the Brooklyn Bridge. He turned into our chompsaw expert. He was not only cutting cardboard for his project, but he was also cutting all the cardboard for others' projects. If you haven't experienced using the chompsaw, it is an amazing (and highly addicting) tool! Everybody who has used it loves it (including me)! Again, this was timely that the project was funded, and the materials were shipped so quickly.\r\n\r\nWe haven't used all of the materials yet. We have experimented with the 3Dux materials. We realized that they don't work well with large pieces of cardboard. Therefore, we had to change our designs. That is actually a good experience for us. We have used the mice that were part of the project. We are now learning how to 3D print, which means we need to learn how to design and manipulate objects. The best way to do this is by using a mouse. One simply cannot manipulate objects on the screen well without the mouse. We are so grateful for them!\r\n\r\nWe are so grateful for the materials, and we are so grateful we get to experience using tools that help students learn and grow. He said he had tried to talk his parents into buying the first Harry Potter book. His parents said books were a waste of money, and besides he could not read anyway. The kid was devastated. He and I are reading it after school for 30 minutes. I would not have guessed this about this boy. He really loves reading, and I have noticed he is acting differently in the classroom.
