My students use them on a regular basis, during instructional time and quiet time. The students are able to sit on the carpet and still have a solid surface to do their work on. Having more than just two has cut down on conflicts between students who want to use the desks.\r\nThe storage rack has been tremendously important, as the Surf Desks have an irregular shape and would be chaotic to store otherwise. My students help each other put the surf desks on the rack. The rack helps make sure our classroom is tidy and safe. Your support has made an incredible impact on our learning environment, providing my students with meaningful hands-on experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, my students now have the opportunity to explore STEM concepts in a way that goes beyond textbooks. These bins have transformed our classroom into a space where students can think outside the box, collaborate, and develop essential skills for the future. The excitement and enthusiasm they show when engaging with these materials are truly inspiring, and it is all because of your kindness and belief in their potential.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is not just an investment in our classroom—it is an investment in the future innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers of tomorrow. The project, Flexible Seating in Science, has had an incredible impact on my classroom. My students use the chairs we received multiple times every single day, and they make our classroom feel more comfortable and cozy. \r\n\r\nMy students were curious and excited when we first received the chairs, and they were overjoyed when we opened them together. Next, we worked together to develop a system of how to equitably integrate the floor chairs into our daily routine. Now, students use the chairs during our enrichment time and social emotional learning time every single day, as well as during times when we are doing flexible group work that doesn't require a lab table. \r\n\r\nA few specific examples of times the chairs made a big difference in the classroom environment were during enrichment time on Halloween, when we pushed all the tables to the sides of the room and circled up with our flexible seating chairs to pass around a flashlight and read a scary Roald Dahl story together. On the day before the holiday break, my students earned a movie-day reward, so we wore pajamas, brought in some snacks, and used the chairs to watch Home Alone together. \r\n\r\nOverall, the flexible seating options have positively impacted our classroom culture and community, and we thank you immensely for your generosity in helping us get them.","fullyFundedDate":1727973804701,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-in-science/8460604/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating in Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Missy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3609509_orig.jpg?crop=667,667,x0,y51&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1718728822568","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3609509"},{"teacherId":2436992,"projectId":8445876,"letterContent":"I want to take the time to thank you for providing my students the opportunity to have science supplies to support our school year. At the beginning of the year, I looked at the entire school years unit and drafted a supply list. I never thought that the supply list itself would be funded as it was a lot of money and a lot of supplies. It was to my shock that I received such a grateful gift. My students and I appreciate all the cool materials to provide an education in STEM that provides them the opportunity to do, play, create, and experiment in science, rather than watch videos, solely reading about the scientific principles, or doing virtual labs.
