Most importantly, in the cultural aspect. The students were able to use technology to connect to their heritage and community. Incorporating our shepherding way of life gave my students pride and ownership of their learning. They weren't just coding, they were storytelling through robotics as they maneuvered through the challenge of the maze. It supported their native language and brought some unique discussions and reflections. \r\n\r\nThis project also encouraged creativity, perseverance, and collaboration. Students worked together to test and debug their code, and celebrate each other's success! This helped with technical fluency and increased their social emotional skills like communication, kindness, and resilience. \r\n\r\nUltimately, the project combined our new world with our culture. The students saw themselves as problem-solvers, innovators, and designers. It enhanced so many skills that extend beyond the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746231895782,"projectUrl":"project/herd-the-sheep-in-sphero-robot-conte/9256530/","projectTitle":"\"Herd the Sheep in, Sphero!\" Robot Contest","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bates","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9097723"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_100250","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":170,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":100,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":0.0,"schoolId":100250,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tse'II'Ahi' Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tse'II'Ahi' Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-mexico/-bureau-of-indian-affairs-/tse-ii-ahi-community-school/100250"}
