Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our classroom and has helped us create a learning environment that is comfortable, engaging, and responsive to the unique needs of our students. The floor pillows and small couches have transformed our library area into a welcoming space where students can relax, look at books, participate in read-alouds, and take a quiet break when they need help regulating their bodies. The unicorn letter-matching game and math rug game have also given our students exciting, hands-on ways to practice early literacy, letter recognition, matching, counting, number recognition, and other foundational skills. The sensory bracelets have been especially helpful in providing students with a portable sensory tool they can use while learning, transitioning, or calming their bodies.\r\n\r\nThe students were so excited when they first saw the new materials! They immediately wanted to explore the pillows and couches, and seeing them comfortably settle into our new library space with books was such a special moment. One of our favorite classroom experiences has been incorporating the new games into our small-group learning and play-based instruction. Because our Mighty Minds learn in many different ways, being able to move, touch, match, manipulate, and play while practicing academic skills gives each student another opportunity to experience success. These materials have helped turn learning into something students can actively participate in rather than simply observe.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue building independence and expanding each student's skills through individualized and small-group instruction. We will use the letter-matching game to progress from letter identification to letter sounds and beginning phonics skills, while the math activities will help students strengthen number recognition, counting, one-to-one correspondence, and early addition skills. We will also continue developing our library area as a place where students can practice choosing books, attending to stories, communicating about what they see, and developing a love for reading. Your support has given our Mighty Minds more opportunities to learn, communicate, regulate, play, and grow. The thousand dollars donated towards our Warmth, Care & Hunger project has already made such a huge impact on our school.\r\n\r\nWith your donation, I was able to purchase snacks, packaged dinners, personal hygiene items, coats, gloves, book bags, and more. These items are currently getting ready to be sorted and sent out to our school families in need. Any remaining items will be kept in our school Care Closet, to be used as needed. \r\n\r\nThank you for your continuous support to Donor Choose and for funding my project. This is a project that will continue to give for the entire year.
