This year has been a year of many firsts for both me and our students. As a teacher-librarian, this has been my first year running a school library in full. More importantly, for our students, this has been the first year in over 5 years that they have been able to check out books on a weekly basis with their classes! I remember the first week that I told the students back in November that we would be able to check out books this year-- they were over the moon! \r\n\r\nHowever, with that comes the many (and I mean MANY) requests for books I did not own. Given that the library hadn't been consistently maintained, most of the books available were 15-35 years old with publishing dates of 1990 to 2010. We needed some fresh titles to supply a new generation with reading material. Our biggest requests were for Goosebumps books, The Last Kids On Earth series, and of course, the newest Dog-Man! With your help, our new books have already been checked out by over 20 different students and given them a reason to keep reading that will hopefully continue for the rest of their lives! Reading is magic. Thank you for gifting that to our students.","fullyFundedDate":1739488018424,"projectUrl":"project/goosebumps-apocalypses-supplying-stud/9010948/","projectTitle":"Goosebumps & Apocalypses: Supplying Student Requests","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rivera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9522862_orig.jpg?crop=1343,1343,x182,y176&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1715013598741","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9522862"},{"teacherId":9522862,"projectId":8339443,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your support in getting my gifted & talented students a 3-D printer! They were quite literally in awe (jaws dropped, for sure!) when the printer first appeared in the Media Center. Though we have run into some technical issues with it getting jammed after our first test, we have officially fixed it and it is back up and running! They are extremely excited to get to start using the slicing (designing) software next year and finally get to have a 3-D printed creation of their own.\r\n\r\nMany of my gifted students have a knack for design and many love using and experimenting with the newest technology whether it be coding their own games, finding new platforms for learning, or something else! This 3-D printer will allow me to get them even more excited about the Engineering Design Process and I know I couldn't even begin to predict what they'll do with this amazing technology at their fingertips. As I like to tell them-- the sky is the limit!\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting this project.
